CoderDojo is a movement to provide free not-for-profit coding clubs and regular sessions for young people. In CoderDojoDC’s first year at the Silver Spring Civic Center we had multiple sessions focused on learning about technologies that make the Web Work: HTML, JavaScript and Python. We also explored educational tools like Scratch and Minecraft that introduce kids to computing in a fun and accessible way. The sessions were free and open to all who registered on the Website.
We want to continue to hold meetings at the Silver Spring Civic Building in downtown Silver Spring, because it is close to the Metro, and nearby shops. It is also just off the beltway for people that are driving from further away. But we need your help to pay the $420 dollar fee for 12 sessions (to meet bi-weekly).
If you can help us out with a donation of $25.00 or more we will put you in a raffle for a free Raspberry Pi. The minimum campaign limit on Indiegogo is $500 and there is 4% funding cost, as well as 3% credit card processing fee. If we can hit the target this would leave us with $465.00. The $45.00 would go towards buying the Raspberry Pi. If we end up going over the limit, we will buy more Raspberry Pis to raffle off.
So please spread the word about our campaign on Twitter, Facebook, email etc ... and we hope to see you soon at CoderDojoDC.
