Summary
We are happy to announce we will be joining forces with Metanoia Music, the production company of the late Gerry Rafferty, now run by his daughter Martha Rafferty. Martha is excited to support the making of the documentary as her father was a lifelong avid reader of Colin’s work. She says the song ‘Baker Street‘ was in many ways the lyrical and musical response to him having read ‘The Outsider’ and we look forward to hearing more about how Colin influenced Gerry Rafferty in our film ‘Dreaming to Some Purpose’.
We at October Eleven Pictures Ltd. are award-winning filmmakers who have had several projects acquired and commissioned by major networks which include Discovery, Sky One, Sky Arts, RTE - Ireland and SVT - Sweden. We have had numerous feature films distributed on DVD and VOD by High Fliers Films - Pinewood Studios, Bayview Entertainment, MVD Entertainment Group, Wild Eye Releasing and Troma Releasing (among others).
We are extremely passionate about our campaign to realize this authorized biography of the life and work of the internationally acclaimed writer and philosopher because seven years after his death, the need for a Wilson documentary is increasingly apparent. We are seeking support from Wilsonians the world over to contribute what you can to help fund this project. The plan is to make a comprehensive, two-part history of Wilson’s life, from his early days as a disaffected teenager to the success of The Outsider and Wilson’s unexpected celebrity, to his later career as a leading philosopher of consciousness and his last days as a grand old man of English letters. Wilson’s family, people who knew him, and people deeply influenced by his work, will contribute onscreen interviews to tell the story of the original Outsider.

Why This Is A Valuable Project
Colin Wilson died in 2013. Despite being a prolific writer and one of the foremost minds of the 20th century, it seemed that there was a reluctance by the media to acknowledge his unique contribution to the literature of the 20th century. The reports of his passing were few. It is now seven years since Colin's death and yet interest in the man and his work continues to grow. Many of his books are now back in print and a conference is held in his honour every other year in Nottingham. His novel, Adrift in Soho, was produced as a film some 50 years after its original publication and in countries such as Japan and America, he is hailed as a genius. It, therefore, may come as a surprise to learn that Colin has never been the subject of a documentary devoted to his life and work. We aim to change that with this documentary. The continued and growing interest in Colin's work demands that his life and work be celebrated in film. This project will ensure that Colin's unique contribution to the world of literature will finally be recognized.
