CREATE THE IDEAL ONLINE ENVIRONMENT
FOR YOUR COMMUNITY
Would you like to do more for your
local community and ensure that it has a high-quality online hub? Well so
would we.
With Ventown Community Online you can
help us build it and be at the forefront of your community's online future in
one or more ways:
1. Donate to help further our community
building efforts
2. Become a community manager
3. Recommend your community to us
What is Ventown Community Online?
It is a social media hub for local communities: everything in one feed,
instantly available, available wherever you go.
It is easy to forget how much of our lives we spend in our communities. Yet,
for most locations around the country it is very
difficult if not impossible to connect with others in the same community and
get relevant content in a single feed.
To remedy this, Ventown has created Community
Online. It is the mobile and desktop hub that
sorts messages according to specific communities, rather than by friends or
followers. You’ll get updates, information, interaction,
business and service content, community events, and more from your local
community. It is something everyone will engage with and want to use everyday.
Why donate?
Your donation will help ensure that many
local communities get a Community Online hub and a community manager.
There’s a
goldmine of social and economic opportunity within local community ecosystems that is waiting to be realized
with Community Online.
It’s one of the most important
ways to get:
More
engaged residents
Lower
rates of crime
More
community organizations
Superior
public schools
Better
parks, services and public health
More
successful small businesses
We’ve created a very powerful social
media platform for accessing the broadest range of people and content in any
community or cluster of overlapping communities (think Venn diagram) and it’s
ready to start connecting people now.
Why get involved as a community manager?
Ventown will provide the platform to
communities but we are also looking for community managers who are excited to
launch and grow their Community Online audience.
As the community manager you will play
a leadership role and foster a much-needed sense of community. Ultimately you
will be shaping how your community grows online, enjoy seeing people coming
together for the greater good, and feel proud in knowing that its success is because
of you.
We have a flexible 10-15 hours per
week contractor program that runs in 3-month increments and pays $23 per hour.
We also offer our Partners2000 Program that may be right for you too. The program is a form
of social financing that provides
referral fees and stock options in certain cases to community managers that
want to grow their community quicker and get greater
returns.
What are the mechanics?
They work like this: We’ve made it
very simple to adopt Community Online. We will train you
on how to enter content and how to keep your community
active. We’ve created infographics, blogs, videos and other
materials to explain Community Online to individuals, communities and
businesses —what it is for, how it works, what you’re supposed to do.
We will be there with you as you
launch and have regular check-ins with you to see how you’re doing and whether
there’s anything we can help with.
We’ll show you how to reach out to community members to grow
your audience and how you can work together with other stakeholders that will
introduce their audiences to open up a larger set of users.
You’ll ask people to weigh in on
issues, share ideas, use the power of the crowd to benefit your community,
introduce those in need to those that can help, increase awareness for
community events and alerts, use WOMM (word-of-mouth messages) for updates, and
bring in local government, businesses, schools and agencies along with their audiences.
Where will content come from?
Community Online is about local
content and interaction, which comes from the community itself. Much of the
initial content for your community will come from you, your co-community
managers, and the people that join early on.
As the audience grows, more and more
of the content will come in from the wider community, including residents
and families, public agencies, schools, non-profits, business owners, and more
- everyone and every group that makes up your community. We can also link in
other content channels and information sources (such as news, weather, alerts,
etc.)
