Podcasts for Programmers
Devchat.tv will be the new home of top podcasts for programmers. We currently have 4 widely acclaimed podcasts available:
Additionally, we've had others express interest in adding their shows to and creating new shows for the network on topics like:
- Erlang
- .NET
- Agile
- Python
- Lessons for New Programmers
- Software Craftsmanship
In order to support our growing number of shows, we need your help to build a system that will allow us to scale out in new ways.
What We Need & What You Get
With your contributions, what we plan to do is fund development on:
- Building a centralized site where you can find all of our shows.
- Having indexed searching across all of our shows and within individual shows (including transcripts, show notes, hosts, and picks)
- Expanding and finding sponsorship for new shows.
- A better method for suggesting show topics and guests. (Uservoice isn't really meeting our needs.)
- Providing a sponsors' portal for sponsors to update their artwork and links.
- I plan to open source as much of the platform as I can.
The Impact
With DevChat.tv we hope to encourage community growth and inspire conversations not only about code, but about the communities we work in. By having these conversations in a public forum like a podcast, we believe we can reach people in ways that are otherwise not possible.
Other Ways You Can Help
Some people just can’t contribute, but that doesn’t mean they can’t help. Here are some ideas of other ways you can contribute:
- Get the word out!
- Talk to your boss and co-workers about sponsoring a show or the network!
- Volunteer. (I have a few tasks I need help getting done.)
- Code. (Most of the money will go to freeing me up to work on the website.)
