Mae Tao Clinic is located on the Thailand-Myanmar border and has been caring for poor, vulnerable and conflict-affected communities from Burma/Myanmar since 1989. We are a low-resource, primary health center that provides free care.
Every year, thousands of women and children attend the clinic, with more than 2,500 women safely delivering their babies. Our medics treat an average of 420 patients per day.
In addition, more than 2,400 children living in boarding houses receive social support and protection, as well as a monthly food and hygiene supplies.
Mae Tao Clinic is of significant value in the region, for its patients, but also for health workers. We partner with health organizations in Eastern Burma/Myanmar, and help strengthening the health systems through training health workers. Health workers from various regions in Burma/Myanmar receive theoretical and practical training at Mae Tao Clinic, and apply their acquired skills and knowledge in their own communities.
Due to a decrease in funding availability, it has become more difficult for Mae Tao Clinic to care for its patients and to train health workers. We urgently need your support to care for our communities, educate our children and to build up the health system in Eastern Burma/Myanmar.
Any donated amount will support us in continuing to care for the people of Burma/Myanmar. Thank you!
