Far dem nayem dor!      For the New Generation!

For centuries the Yiddish speaking world has had an immense repertoire of children’s songs. The majority of melodies and texts disappeared together with the people who sung them and the children for whom they were composed.

Such collections as remain in writing or recording are a treasure trove for lovers of the Yiddish word.

The “Yiddish Summer Weimar” festival in 2012 and 2013 created the opportunity to unearth many beautiful children’s songs and bring them back to life. They were transcribed to make them accessible, and sung by those that they were intended for: the children themselves, their parents, grandparents, teachers and friends.

Our aim is to return these children’s songs back where they belong, in the families where they can be part of everyday life and not the artistic expression of a single performer during a concert.

Beyond the yearly workshops, we would like to introduce this exceptional repertoire to a wider audience by producing a CD. It will present some of the most gifted Yiddish artists of our time performing together with talented native Yiddish speaking children. The music scores and the lyrics will also be provided in the accompanying booklet.

The klezmorim and singers will be

Alan Bern – Accordion, Piano [USA, Germany]

Milena Kartowski – Voice [France]

Martin Lillich – Bass [Germany]

Diana Matut – Voice, Recorder; Idea & Concept [Germany]

Trayne, Kreyndl and Shprintse Neuberg – Voice [France, Germany]

Khane-Gele Neuberg – Voice [France, Germany]

Luca and Leon Pachonik – Voice [Germany]

Andreas Schmitges – Guitar, Mandoline [Germany]

Nora Thiele - Percussion [Germany]

Vanessa Vromans – Violin [Australia, Germany]

Wenka Weber – Voice [Germany]

Please help us to bring these wonderful songs back to life by making (even) a (small) donation!

What we need and why

8000 EURs may seem a large sum (and it is) but it is a very realistic price for the production of a CD, including the costs for the studio and the technical work after recording, the booklet and the design, the travel costs for 13 people, housing and yes, we have to eat as well:-)

Sponsor our CD Far dem nayem dor to revive songs that have not been sung for generations!

Any contribution from 10 EURs on will be of great help towards our goal!

Mit a sheynem, hartiskn dank!

Alan Bern – Akkordeon, Piano [USA, Deutschland]

Milena Kartowski – Gesang [Frankreich]

Martin Lillich – Kontrabass [Deutschland]

Diana Matut – Gesang; Idee & Konzept [Deutschland]

Trayne, Kreyndl und Shprintse Neuberg – Gesang [Frankreich, Deutschland]

Khane-Gele Neuberg – Gesang [Frankreich, Deutschland]

Luca and Leon Pachonik – Gesang [Deutschland]

Andreas Schmitges – Guitarre, Mandoline [Deutschland]

Nora Thiele - Percussion [Deutschland]

Vanessa Vromans – Violine [Australien, Deutschland]

Wenka Weber – Gesang [Deutschland]
