Who We Are

Hello!!!! We are Plump: Fat Queer Femmes Creating and Revolting and we are so excited to announce that we are making a movie! We are a group of fat femmes living and making art in Austin TX. 
Fat: The Play is all about our experiences as fat femmes living in a world that hates fat people and femmes. This transformative project was an opportunity to bring our stories to the stage and create narratives for ourselves. So often the stories of fat femmes are erased. We simply do not exist in mainstream narratives. So we endeavored to resist that erasure by telling our stories for ourselves and for other fat femmes. 

But it takes a village! We can't do this alone. Your support will enable us to create this film and expand the fat femmes that we can reach. You will be supporting a truly ground breaking and historic project that centers the stories of fat femmes in a world that hates us. 

What We Need & What You Get

We need 6000 dollars total to get this film going. Your money will go towards

  • Props and costumes ($500)
  • Sound ($900)
  • Lights ($150)
  • Paying for cinematography ($1000)
  • Editing the film ($1000)
  • Snacks and supplies for the days of shooting ($300)
  • Indiegogo fees ($300) 
  • Making and distributing the DVDs ($1000)
We have lots of amazing perks, from a sweet thank you to a copy of the film to zines and posters! 

The Impact

Making this film is going to be revolutionary. It will leave a behind a legacy for future generations, so that they know that people like us existed. It will also give us new narratives for ourselves, allowing us to see ourselves reflected in art and media. Representation is so important because it reminds us that we are human, that others like us exist. This project will help combat dominant narratives of fat hatred and femmephobia. It will make space for us.
