"I'll die of hunger before I die of this virus." - Sampa Akter
The spread of COVID-19 has created unparalleled challenges for communities around the world. In Bangladesh, where nearly half of people suffer from malnutrition, it has added oil to the fire.
While the country has made strides in reducing malnutrition since 2000, COVID-19 has decreased accessibility to food due to quarantine and the loss of jobs, and its global hunger index remains at a serious level of GHI 25.8.

Hashi Khushi Fortified Lentil Butter:
Do Good, Eat Well
Our signature product is our Hashi Khushi Fortified Lentil Butter.
In Bengali, "Hashi Khushi" means "happy and laughing" or "joyful," which is the emotion we hope to create through our tasty snacks and their effects on nutrition.
In order to treat and prevent malnutrition, our lentil butter is specifically designed according to WHO standards and cutting edge research to provide complete nutrition with just 2 sachets a day.
Each sachet is made from freshly roasted lentils, ground puffed rice, nutritious oils, and real milk, and is fortified with 23 micronutrients, including those crucial to child development and pregnancy like calcium and iron.
When we first developed our lentil butter, I brought some home with me to show friends and family. I was surprised to hear that many of my most active friends enjoyed it before or after workouts, on camping trips, while traveling, or while working long hours in the office or hospital.
This is why we have decided to bring Hashi Khushi to the US, Europe, and other developed markets. Whether you're an athlete, adventurer, or just a busy individual with little time for meal prep, our Lentil Butter is for you.
If you are constantly reaching out for junk food to snack on, or want something really convenient to carry about on your hikes, this is definitely for you.
Our lentil butter can be consumed directly from the sachet, and is tasty on its own or paired up with fruit or oats!

Frontier Nutrition
We bring high quality and affordable nutrition to low-income communities around the world.
I moved to Bangladesh for work in 2012 and fell in love with the country, culture, and its people. I was also socked to witness how poor nutrition led to stunted growth and limited economic opportunities.
As I looked around while enjoying a traditional cup of tea one afternoon, I realized that the options carried by nearby shops were mostly empty calories - delicious and insanely cheap, but mostly a mix of carbs, sugar and salt. They had little nutrition and would barely keep me full, forget about providing the critical nutrients needed by growing children, their mothers, and laborers hard at work.
This is the reality for millions of families in Bangladesh, where more than half of the children and pregnant women suffer from malnutrition. There are no affordable or nutritious options.
We started Frontier Nutrition with the mission is to create nutrient-dense, delicious snacks that everyone could afford. We want to remove barriers to proper nutrition.

Why we must act NOW to support families in Bangladesh
Early this year, COVID-19 swept across the globe, creating tremendous challenges for families around the world. In Bangladesh, where malnutrition is already rampant, the pandemic has made it even harder for families to afford and find quality, nutritious foods. Many people have lost their jobs, and the spread of the virus in the community and prevalence of multi-family and multi-generational homes means that you put your entire extended family at risk every time you leave the house, even to work or get food.
With this situation at hand, it's nearly impossible for many families to meet their nutritional needs, especially the young children, who need the nutrition the most for proper growth and development.
The first 1000 days of a child's life is very crucial to the trajectory of her life - with the right nutrition, she will be well-equipped with a healthy body to deal with life's challenges. Without proper nutrition, the body and immune system are at greater risk for contracting the virus and will be less capable at fighting it. For children particularly, poor nutrition has permanent negative consequences for cognitive development, affecting them for the rest of their lives.
Not only that, pregnant also women require tremendous amounts of nutrients to properly nurture their babies before they are born, and poor nutrition among mothers both before and after pregnancy has a significant impact on health outcomes for children.
