Overview

Set in the harsh, grimy, uncertain world of Philadelphia circa 1980, Filthydelphia is the story of Ermengarde, a young punk living day to day. When her father dies suddenly, Ermengarde finds herself having to raise her eight-year-old brother, Seamus, on her own. Our goal is to create a funny, heartfelt, but unflinching portrayal of a young woman doing her best to piece together the best life she can in the big city.

ABOUT US

Pole Star Productions is a new independent production company founded by Bronwyn Bishop in 2016 and dedicated to telling unusual stories about overlooked people, places, and time periods. Filthydelphia is our first major project, and we couldn't be more excited about it.

Bronwyn Bishop is the founder and President of Pole Star Productions and the creator/writer/director of Filthydelphia. Bronwyn is a writer, director, and DJ from Philadelphia, now based in Brooklyn, New York. She is the writer, director, and producer of two original musicals: Plan 9: The Musical from Outer Space (based on Ed Wood's infamous B-movie Plan 9 from Outer Space) and Last Call (based on the songs of Jacques Brel). She is also the host of the fill-in program "Love Is Only Sleeping" on WFMU, the oldest and most renowned freeform radio station in the United States. Bronwyn graduated from Ithaca College with a degree in television-radio in 2016.

Your contribution will help us recreate the world of 1980 with the equipment, locations, props, and costumes we need to deliver a truly entertaining viewing experience. We intend to pitch this series to television networks and streaming services, and your generosity will help make that possible!
