On any given day, 13,000 people face homelessness in the city of Atlanta. Approximately 2,500 of them are children.

Founded in 1986, the Atlanta Children’s Shelter provides free, quality day care, emotional support, an education curriculum for homeless children, and focused social services for their families. Rather than simply providing shelter or a place to sleep (which are vital!), the Atlanta Children’s Shelter focuses on the long-term self-sufficiency of the family. ACS is dedicated to helping families overcome the issues that contribute to homelessness, including domestic violence and job loss.

Because of disruptions in their education, homeless children are twice as likely to have a learning disability, repeat a grade, or be suspended from school. Homeless children are also much more likely to be exposed to violence, which has lasting psychosocial effects on a child’s development. Homeless children are more likely to develop conditions like depression, anxiety, or other behavioral issues.

Since its founding, ACS has cared for almost 8,000 children and has stabilized nearly 5,000 homeless families by transitioning families into stable housing and sustainable employment.

As an Atlanta-based company, we’re passionate about this city and making sure every resident is given adequate access to health, education, housing, and success. The Atlanta Children’s Shelter has been a tireless force in this community to improve the lives of children and families.

“I grew up in Atlanta and I have a lot of pride in this city. We’re a community that takes care of each other, so it means a lot to me to be able to make sure children are given every available opportunity.”

-Emily Frank, office manager

We hope you’ll join us in donating to the Atlanta Children’s Shelter and making Atlanta a safer, more inclusive place for families in our community.
