About the book:
‘From the Riser: A
Drummer’s Perspective II’ is a stunning collection of over two hundred live
action drumming photos brought together in a large format coffee table book. The foreword is written by the drumming legend Neil Peart of Rush.
This project has been
five years in the making and features around hundred twenty drumming
legends. The book aims to celebrate the world
of drumming by taking you behind the scenes and showing you drummers doing what
they do best. You’ll be able to see the view from behind the kit on stage in front of
tens of thousands of people, get up close to the action at sound checks and
checkout backstage. The behind the
scenes photos will give you an Access All Areas Pass to a side of the live
music industry few people have seen.
Following on from ‘A
Drummer’s Perspective’, David Phillips’ first book, ‘From The Riser’ features
more drummers, more pages and even better pictures. The powerful images and text aims to give a
fascinating insight to the drummers, their playing and their world.

Where will the pledge money be spent?
Much hard work and love
has already gone into the making of this book. The project is near completion
with all the photos already taken and approved. The money raised from this
project will take the ‘From The Riser’ to its conclusion by covering
the majority of the printing, production
and design costs of the book. Plus additional costs for re-designing the
book website, shipping and storage. This is a self-published book.
‘From The Riser’ will be
a quality coffee table book printed to a very high standard on superior 150 gsm
gloss paper with heavy weight gloss laminated cover. The book dimensions will
be:
Width 12” (30 cm)
Height 9.5” (24.5cm)
“ A Drummers Perspective’
weighs 2.8 lbs. (1.27 Kilos). It is expected “From The Riser’ will come in at
approximately 180 pages making it heavier than book one.
The only way
the book will come to market is through your pledges. I would like to say a big thank you in advance to
anyone that pledges support for my project. I know from the huge amount of warm
feedback and comments on my first book that this second book will not
disappoint. I feel that the more I photograph drummers the better I get and I
am very excited to show the world this new collection of photos which captures
that magic of drumming.
Risks and challenges:
I have all the photos and
most of the copy is done. Only funding will affect the timing of the completion
and delivery of the finished book. The target delivery date of late October
2016 is very achievable. I’m confidant any delay, should it occur, would be
minor. Should any delays happen all pledgers will be kept informed.
Many thanks to Christian
Aisbett for putting together video.
