Meet the EuroBRICS Young Leaders

After the tremendous success of our first meeting last year in Helsinki, Finland, we — the Euro-BRICS’ Young Leaders — are proud to announce the second EuroBRICS Young Leader’s Summit in New Delhi, India, in March 2016! 

2016 will be the year of Sustainability. If today’s world leaders fail to implement the promises of the Sustainable Development Goals and Climate negotiations of late 2015, it will be our generation who pays the price for their shortcomings. Therefore we will come together in New Delhi to discuss the prospects of a sustainable way to live in the newly arising multipolar world, which the EuroBRICS initiative incorporates. 

We are not just another Youth Conference. Our aim is to bring together the brightest and most promising young leaders from four continents and stay independent, so we can discuss what matters to us, instead of copying the agenda of donors, as it happens all too often. But it doesn't stop here. We firmly believe that ones ability to shape the future should be determined by knowledge and passion, not by the size of one’s wallet. Therefore we want to enable every young change maker to come together and discuss our issues, no matter his or her financial background. This is the only right thing to do, but it also an expensive prospect.

With your support we will be able to cover the airfares of at least 50% of our delegates to come all the way from Europe and the BRICS to New Delhi. We want to build on the momentum created by our first summit and hold a gathering unlike any other, where we can deepen our transnational friendships and work on the intercultural understanding that is so important for our future.

What We Need & What You Get

To be able to cover the airfares of half of our delegates and convene to what is most likely the only inclusive youth event there is on this scale, we need to raise another 15.450€ in addition to what we already have. 

We got our venue, the food and local transport already sorted for our entire delegation. On top, we even already have contributions summing up to more than 10.000€. The 15.450€ we want to raise with this campaign are going to be used for the biggest cost factor: the airfares to bring people from more than 20 countries and 4 continents all the way down to India's capital New Delhi. Our ambitious aim is to cover at least 50% of our delegations, so nobody gets excluded. 

But every little helps! The more money we raise the more delegates we can fly in at not costs for our delegates, who might - as most students and young professionals - be short on cash. In our opinion that is an exclusion criteria on already to many youth events. You can help us to overcome this and enable us to shape the future we want, you can literally fund the change you want to see in the world! Once we reached our goal, the next aim is 30.000€, which would mean we can allow every single one of our 100  delegates to attend our summit for free.

You will get a live newsfeed from the delegate of your choice and you can even adopt individual leaders or entire delegations, so you don't only know exactly what your money is used for, but get first hand informations in your language from your delegate or delegation. You have the chance to actually meet us and the high-profile guest we invited in person next year in Delhi!

If we wouldn't manage to raise the entire amount we need, your money is not wasted. We already got enough money to make this summit happen and cover a very limited number of airfares. With every Euro you spend, however, we will be able to cover more airfares, every Euro you spend makes our summit fairer, more inclusive, and hence more like the future we are working on.

Our Impact

The EuroBRICS Young Leaders' Summit is unique. Nowhere else outside the United Nations do young people from such a vast array of socio-cultural and economic backgrounds have the chance to talk to each other with the same level of trust and mutual understanding. We have huge plans, even beyond our summit.

By inviting high-level politicians, diplomats and entrepreneurs, we want to offer the highest decision making circles the opportunity to build on the momentum we created and engage in talks themselves.

We want to built a more understanding, multipolar future and we know it is possible. Why? Because we already did it. Last June, we had an amazing First EuroBRICS Young Leader's Summit in the Finnish capital Helsinki. One hundred young leaders from all over Europe and each of the BRICS countries came together in Helsinki and went to nearby St. Petersburg in Russia for a post event. Not only did we discuss a broad range of topics, we laid the foundations of a global network of inspiring and aspiring young change makers. It is this network that we want to strengthen. Last year was to get us started, this year will be even more ambitious. We will discuss a central issue for our generation: Sustainability in a Multipolar World, and we won't be satisfied with simply discussing it.

We want policy makers in all of regions to address the concerns of us young citizens. After all, it is our future that is at stake here. So, this year we will collaborate on policy papers calling for the attention of this generation of leaders and telling them exactly, what we expect them to do to save our future.

We need you to make this vision a reality.

Risks & Challenges

Coming together on a global scale is never easy. We come from a vast set of the most diverse backgrounds on four different continents and we celebrate our differences. As in every relationship there are clashes and misunderstandings ranging from very funny to really not funny. But our strength is to be young, accepting and open-minded people. We do not let take differences take us down, because this is what we came together for in the first place: to foster mutual understanding and acceptance. And it works, across, despite and indeed because of our differences we created a network of global reach and with your help we will even deepen our connection. This is what the future needs. You can help us to clash more often and even in person, so we can become a stronger network with every settled conflict.
