Greetings, dear Crowdfounders.

My name is Pedro M. Librero, and am an industrial designer.

Since I acquired my first 3D printer, looking reliability. And so do not hesitate to modify the machine, and create devices that help me in my work.
Today I want to introduce a small device that usually use.

Fuse is. A clamp for welding filament rolls and can print without interruption. Since I use it, I do not worry about running out of filament in the middle of a print job.
It took a few months to launch this campaign to present Fuse fully developed and tested.

Continous printing.
One of the most common problems with my printer, is losing jobs when the filament ends. It is disappointing to see that work many hours or even days missed.
I imagine you also will have occurred.

To avoid this, I tried changing the filament during printing. I have also tried editing gcode up work. But nothing has worked. Whenever the machine is out of filament, work has been lost.
The problem is aggravated if the printer uses Bowden, because you need to apply continuous filament retraction movements.

I like print quality, the result of the work has the best possible finish and perfect bonding between layers. And to get it, have to print continuously.
So I decided to remedy the problem. A clamp that allows welding filament without stopping printing.

Operating.

Fuse concentrated heat right in the middle of the clamp, while the rest is kept at the lowest possible temperature.
So the filament that flows through the center is melted, and upon reaching the end, this couple cold enough to preserve its shape.

The clamp must be operable to extract the filament. But while the material is welded, the system must be sealed.

Developement.
Development started performing thermal tests, which were to decide the temperature, and the materials used.
For the assays used teflon low thermal conductivity and ability to withstand high temperatures. The performance was perfect. It is elastic and helps seal, and slide right, favoring the flow of material. The filament is fully melted and the weld is imperceptible.
For the heating power had to use PTC resistors "Possitive coeficcient temperature" Get samples, and adapts to rest of the set. These resistors are self-regulating so it is not necessary to control its temperature.

FUSE.
Finally, Fuse its mounted on a steel frame to isolate the hot zones of accidental contact, the frame gives rigidity to the assembly and easy fixing by screws. I Development of FUSE has been difficult, but the result is a tested and fully developed product.
It works perfect.
In less than a minute, ready to melt Fuse. Just slide the filament inward and temperature does the rest. The filament ends fused perfectly, making it impossible to distinguish the weld from the rest of the filament and having the same resistance.

You already have a new roll loaded into the extruder and you can stop worrying until the printer completes the job.

  • No interruptions
  • Melt a roll to the next.
  • Swap roll with machine runing.
  • Experiment with different colours.
  • All materials tested, ABS, PLA, PLA flexible, PVA, Nylon.
  • For 1.75mm-3mm filament.
  • Power supply 110V-220V. Valid for all countries.

More than two months of testing, and hundreds of welds ensure perfect operation. Finally your printer can work completely unattended.

Why Indiegogo?
Need a minimum orders to start mass production.
I have negotiated budgets, minimum orders and delivery times to all providers, including transport to anywhere in the world for a price of 59 € each.

You read that right;

FUSE + TAX + SHIPPING INSURED GLOBAL = 59 €
Once the campaign is complete, you will receive an email with your expedition number.
I have dedicated this month to get agreements with suppliers of materials and logistics, to get the best prices.
But if you want to become our partner I have also designed an offer that you can profit by selling your customers Fuse.
The strategy is based on reducing logistics costs and materials.
More we are, best prices we get.
Watch our rewards which fits you more.

All parts have metrology control, assembly and testing of each of the units.

I have decided that the campaign on INDIEGOGO, is all or nothing. Because the amount calculated is the minimun that allows to start manufacturing.
I hope you to help me achieve it.

Feel free to contact me for more information or for specific tests. I will be happy to attend.
Just say that I have developed the project completely, and have negotiated agreements necessary to offer the highest quality at the best possible price. This is my way of working.
I appreciate your attention and I ask your help to make it a reality Fuse.
Sincerely.

Pedro M. Librero
