Making these changes result in opening up 2,800 sq. ft. of space for the museum to utilize in providing educational programming to the community, creating an inviting atmosphere in the Lexington Market and Downtown area that desperately needs more inviting businesses, and providing an outlet for the history and celebration of the business, its customers, and its influence on East Coast architecture and art.
Now, we are applying to grants to cover these costs, but grants are not always a sure way of securing funding, especially in today's economy. But don't worry, even if we were to have all the grants approved, we would still use ever dollar to continue preserving the building. We have more windows to restore other than this first wave of necessary repairs. We have plaster walls with holes in them that you can help fill. We are not ADA accessible at the moment, and we want to change that too.
