It seems far-fetched, doesn't it?
But then again, President Nixon was brought down by some little cassette tapes, so you never know.
This administration is only a month old, yet the corruption is already rampant and brazen. President Trump's myriad conflicts of interest related to his business dealings grow more serious by the day. We also now have a scandal brewing over the administration's potential involvement in Russian interference in the presidential election, evidence of which has been been corroborated by both the FBI and CIA.
Under these extraordinary circumstances, the case for impeachment is absurdly strong, especially considering that the Trump administration just finished unpacking their stuff.
Our nation cannot afford 4 years of a president who has no respect for the fundamental principles that serve as the bedrock of our Republic, such as the separation of powers and the rights enshrined in the First Amendment to our Constitution.
People are asking whether the President CAN be removed from office. He most definitely can be. Congress has that power. At the moment, however, many members of Congress see the president as more of a political asset than a liability. As long as that is the case, the unfortunate reality appears to be that President Trump will continue to serve in the Oval Office regardless of how many impeachable offenses he commits.
Our nation's procedural pipes are clogged up on Capitol Hill.
Congress needs a plumber.
Get Out of Our House is that plumber.
We, the People, have the power to unclog the pipes of our Democracy. We will do so ramping up pressure of members of Congress through postcards, calls, and protests. We will flood the offices on Capitol Hill with demands that the necessary steps be taken to get the President out of the White House.
Yes, this seems like an ineffective way to get a president removed from office. But as The Indivisible Guide, a helpful document written by congressional staffers, has made clear, these activities make the lives of people in Congress more difficult, and members of Congress pay attention to the things that make their lives more difficult.
Contributing to this campaign isn't about buying a t-shirt or a pile of postcards to send to Congress. It's about buying IN to a movement.
Because getting the t-shirt (our uniform of the Resistance) and the postcards (a tool of the Resistance) isn't the END of your involvement. It's the BEGINNING. Join the campaign, and we're going to help you USE the resources at hand to bring about the change we want to see in our nation.
We're not looking for consumers, but collaborators.
This movement has the potential to achieve the unthinkable. Never in American history has a unified mass Resistance contributed to the impeachment of a President of the United States.
But we've never had a president so ripe for impeaching, have we?
With each citizen who stands up to be counted among those calling for President Trump to Get Out of Our House, we inch closer to achieving that end.
Pressure will build on the White House. Pressure will build on Capitol Hill.
Our moment is now.
