Short Summary
We are four female filmmakers who, while isolating in Brooklyn during COVID, came together over Zoom to create a comedy in the midst of our collective depression. "Ghost Town" is a comedy about dead people pursuing their dreams.
“Ghost Town” follows small-town dead girl Jane Clay whose death hasn’t derailed her ambitions of Broadway stardom. When Trump declares New York City a "ghost town," Jane takes her death into her own hands and heads to the city where she meets a rag-tag group of ghosts who, in return for helping them with their “unfinished business” agree to act in her ghostly production of “Our Town.”
“Ghost Town” reminds us that even in our isolation, we are never truly alone.
We have seven HILARIOUS episodes, seven INCREDIBLY talented actors, and four gals who are DYING to make you laugh.
What We Need & What You Get
We’re shooting the first three episodes in September, and your contribution will make this initial shoot possible and pave the way for subsequent shoots:
Equipment rental (it’s gonna look good!)
Audio recording and mixing (it’s gonna sound good!)
Locations, food, wardrobe and props (it ain’t cheap!)
Our creative team has cooked up some super spooky prizes for everyone who helps fund our campaign. We thank you from the bottoms of our dead little hearts.
The Impact
We are four women in a field dominated by men. Our project is proof that by supporting each other we can make a positive impact on the industry and create a strong artistic community. "Ghost Town" is a celebration of New York City and after a particularly devastating year, we want to remind the world that NYC is still a cultural epicenter and inspiration to artists. Even in the most difficult circumstances, it's never too late to band together and create something beautiful.
Risks & Challenges
Filmmaking is expensive, but we're resourceful producers. We are lucky to be part of a vibrant artistic community who are passionate about "Ghost Town" and dedicated to making it happen. We're calling in ALL the favors for this one.
After writing a first season of an entirely new web series over Zoom, the shoot should be the easy part!
