Give 300 children in West Africa school bags
Most children within some of the rural communities in Nigeria and Ghana do not have school bags. Not having school bags have been linked to children’s self-confidence, comfort, self-esteem and the zeal to learn. Most often children without school bags have their books easily misplaced, have little or no interest in learning since they have no books or torn books. This is common among children within rural communities where children just take long walks from their homes to school holding their books in their hands or having them in Nylons. Children deserve the right to quality education and it has to do with everything that makes learning comfortable. School bags are very important and play a very important role in a child’s learning process, hence why we created the low cost “Reuse Bags” from waste to help children learn better. The bags are made with waste fabrics materials gotten from tailors and sachet water nylons which regularly are found in major streets especially in Nigeria. Giving children these bags will help them keep their books safe while at the same time teaching them the value of reusing and recycling.
We are asking for support to provide 300 children within Zaria: Kaduna and Sokoto South: Sokoto, in Nigeria; and Odjardeh Community in Ghana. The school bags cost $2dollars each. These bags will be made by M.A.D Kraft and donated and distributed with the support of Community Based Organizations in the ur various locations by WeAreM.A.D Initiative. The $2 will not only give a child a school bag, but also will be keeping the environment clean and safe as well as give community women and girls within Imafon in Akure, Ondo State daily income from the production of the bags. The women have been taught how to make the bags by the organization and they work with M.A.D Kraft to produce the bags. So with the bags we will also be contributing our quota to reducing poverty and hunger in Imafon community as well as reducing teenage pregnancy which is a major issue in the community as a result of poverty.
