Goebel Goats
THIS IS A LIMITED TIME FUNDRAISER, WE NEED YOUR HELP NOW! PAGE WILL BE LIVE UNTIL SATURDAY 5/7 ONLY! THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!
Introduction:
In 2015, the Goebel Goats moved to Goebel Park as their summer home. Each spring, the goats are released to their summer home in the Park to nibble away the invasive plant species that allows the wooded areas to thrive. We're so grateful for their help! But we also need YOUR help, as the goats are entirely funded by friends and neighbors like you!
Our Story:
Goebel Goats is a project to improve the health of our woods and community. Last year in a collaborative effort between community leaders, city of Covington officials, city employees, local businesses and Wolf Tree Farms, 10 goats were introduced to the wooded areas in Goebel Park (which was full of invasive plants and shady activity). Last year from May to October the goats began eating and trampling the invasive plants and making alot of friends (human and animal) in the process. It has been a huge success and we want to expand this effort to other woods in Covington! This is where your donation is so valuable to keep this project moving forward.
WHAT HELPS LOOKS LIKE:
In addition to feed, housing and care, the goats need fencing! As we expand, we need more fencing! Fencing is critical to keeping the goats safe!
Cost to Fence One Acre: $3,216.60 ($3.85 per foot of fence)
- The average goat can clear up to 3 acres in a season
- 836 feet of fence covers one acre
Number of acres to clear in Goebel Park this year: 7 acres
Total donation amount in fencing we would need: $22,530.20
Please help us reach this goal by donating generously to the Goebel Goats in partnership with The Center for Great Neighborhoods (a 501c3 nonprofit, all donations are tax deductible).
We couldn't have this program without the support of our sponsors: Hub+Weber, Tier 1, Ammon Nursery, Braxton Brewery Frida, Greenline Salon, AmerAsia, the Baker Firm PLLC, Orleans Development, Adams, Stepner, Woltermann & Dusing, PLLC, .....and ALL OF YOU
Thank you for helping the goats!
