GREEN LIGHT, GO!
We (Skye Chamberlain and Ramesh Puttan) are a married couple from Seattle Washington. I have been an educator in Waldorf schools for the past 20 years and Ramesh is a long time IT professional.
Now that our children are grown and out leading productive lives, we decided that it was time for us to make a contribution to the defining struggle of our times, to work to decrease the use of fossil fuels and turn the tides on global warming that produces destructive climate change.
Over the past quarter century we have developed strong local logistical support in India, especially in the states of Kerala, Bihar and Uttarkhand. Our deep-rooted connections with India, and our great commitment, will help us to successfully complete this project about which we are so passionate.

RENEWABLE vs FOSSIL FUEL GRID

The above graph shows a comparative Cost Trade Off Analysis for producing 10 KW of energy using Renewables versus Fossil-fuels for a period of 10 years in India.
Renewables like Photo Voltaic (PV) and Wind Energy need initial investment, but the long term benefits economically, socially and environmentally are too enormous to quantify in mere numbers alone.
The blue line, representing Fossil fuel, has the lowest initial investment but has a high running cost for a 10 year period. This high running cost is both monetary and environmental, which we as a planet can no longer afford.
DEMOCRATIZING THE POWER GRID PROJECT
Vinayasun is proud to partner with Sevalaya, a reputed charitable organization located in the outskirts of Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. Sevalaya has been engaged in much-needed social developmental work there for more than 30 years.

Our project, Democratizing the Power Grid, replicates Sevalaya's well-designed Solar Micro Power Grid in other parts of India.
Sevalaya generates most of its electricity from its Solar Power based Smart Power Grid used to run its Schools, Student Hostels, Old Age Home and farm equipment needed for Organic Farming.

Access to energy is the corner stone for bringing overall development that can uplift the quality of life in a rural community. An estimated 300 million people in India currently have no power will most likely be on the grid by 2020.
At Vinayasun, we want to ensure that India’s rural electrification and its million telecom towers, are powered by green energy and not by coal or diesel fuel.
As you know, renewables like solar and wind energy need initial investment. However, the great part is that once they are up and running they have low cost maintenance, generate income and create employment.
To make this possible we will need the help of like-minded people. Together we could make a great difference in the lives of marginalized people and help stop Global Warming, making sure that we turn the tide against Climate Change and protect our precious planet.
