Huh? What are you up to?

We are in the process of making documentary! It’s all about Wicca in the Netherlands. 35 years of Wicca in the Netherlands to be exact. In 90 minutes we will be letting several people talk about their own experiences in the Dutch World of Wicca. How did it all come about? What were the major changes in that period? Who were the most influential and what does the future look like? Above all: what is Wicca in the Netherlands precisely?

This is all framed by magnificent atmospheric scenes and musical gems.

A booklet will also be provided with some background information, statistics and a number of written interviews. This way we want to keep the documentary lively and colourful! We want to show real people, with real lives and real emotions. Who has ensured that Wicca is still alive and well in the Netherlands?

This project is commissioned by the “Silver Circle Foundation” in celebration of its 35th anniversary.

The recordings have already started but we are still a long way to realise our budget fully. The cost is EUR 4,500 for materials and equipment purchased and for the production and printing of the DVD. We want a high quality image and sound, and that unfortunately is asking quite a lot!

Fortunately Marcel & Marjolein (www.leukemensen.nl) are contributing their time selflessly for the actual production of the documentary. That includes many hours of recordings, tours, final assembly and creative discussions with the Silver Circle team. The musicians are making their work available, the interviewees give their knowledge and time, the Silver Circle team countless hours spent on the organizational part and deciding "what do we actually show?" And all this without any fees.

Who are you exactly?

In short: “Silver Circle Foundation”. A team of enthusiasts who together have over a century of knowledge about Wicca. We provide information about Wicca and do it in several ways. Among other things by issuing a digital anglo/dutch magazine (www.wiccanrede.org), publishing books and organizing meetings. For more information check out our websites.

What can I do to help?

Support us financially! As we said, to keep the cost as low as possible without compromising on quality. There are several ways to support us so that there is an option for every budget. If you have another great idea to support us financially which is not listed above please contact us! If you want to support us financially but not through digital means, please contact us.

Even if you have no budget at all you can still help us by spreading the word!

What happens when you reach the goal?

We make the DVD and the book and will present it at a date to be announced at the end of 2015. Those who have financed us will receive their orders and we will have a rousing presentation with a big party.

What happens if you do not reach the goal?

We will make the DVD and booklet. However, we will then feel it heftily in our own pocket because the team has already advanced the full amount. Moreover, we then have (hefty) higher costs for Indie Gogo.

The people who funded us will receive their orders. There will also be a presentation but in a less spectacular form.

What will happen in the near future?

First of all Marcel & Marjolein will continue conducting interviews and shooting the scenes. All the images and material are going to be collected and assembled to be a successful story with beautiful music and fun images. Finally, English-language subtitles will be added.

In the meantime, the booklet is being assembled. What information should be in it and how do we design things? This will be done by the Silver Circle/ Wiccan Rede team.

Huh? Wat gaan we doen?

We zijn een documentaire aan het maken! En die gaat over wicca in Nederland. 35 jaar wicca in Nederland om exact te zijn. 1,5 uur lang vertellen diverse mensen over hun eigen ervaringen binnen de Nederlandse wereld der hekserij. Hoe is het allemaal ontstaan? Wat waren grote veranderingen in die periode? Wie waren belangrijk en hoe gaat de toekomst eruit zien? En vooral: wat is wicca in Nederland nou eigenlijk?

Dit allemaal omlijst door prachtige sfeerbeelden en muzikale juweeltjes.

Ook zal er een boekje bijgeleverd worden met wat meer achtergrondinformatie, statistieken en een aantal geschreven interviews. Want we willen de documentaire alles behalve gortdroog houden. We willen échte mensen, met échte levens en échte emoties laten zien. Wie hebben ervoor gezorgd dat wicca nog steeds leeft in Nederland?

Dit is in opdracht van Stichting Silver Circle ter viering van het 35 jarige bestaan.

De opnames zijn al begonnen maar we zijn nog lang niet bij het budget wat er nodig is om dit volledig te realiseren. De kosten zijn 4500 euro voor de materialen die aangeschaft zijn voor de productie en het drukken van de DVD. We willen een hoge kwaliteit beeld & geluid en dat kost helaas wat. 

Gelukkig zetten Marcel & Marjolein van www.leukemensen.nl zich belangeloos in voor het daadwerkelijk produceren van de documentaire. De vele uren aan opnames, reizen, afmonteren en creatieve discussies met het Silver Circle team nemen zij volledig op zich. De muzikanten stellen hun werk beschikbaar, de geïnterviewden schenken hun kennis en tijd, het Silver Circle team is talloze uren kwijt aan het organisatorische gedeelte en het beslissen "wat willen we nou eigenlijk laten zien?" En dat allemaal zonder enige vergoeding.

Wie zijn jullie precies?

Kort gezegd: Stichting Silver Circle. Een team van enthousiastelingen die samen meer dan een eeuw kennis in huis hebben over wicca. We geven graag informatie over wicca en doen dat op verschillende manieren. Onder andere door het uitbrengen van een digitaal magazine (www.wiccanrede.org) en het organiseren van bijeenkomsten. Wat kan ik doen om te helpen?

Ons financieel steunen! Zoals gezegd zijn de kosten zo laag mogelijk gehouden zonder in te leveren op kwaliteit. Er zijn verschillende mogelijkheden om ons te steunen zodat er voor elk budget een optie is. Mocht je een ander tof idee hebben om ons financieel te steunen wat er niet bijstaat neem dan vooral even contact op!

Voor non-digitale manieren om te doneren kun je contact opnemen met ons.

Ook als je geen financiële ruimte hebt kun je ons steunen door zoveel mogelijk andere mensen te vertellen over dit initiatief.

Wat gebeurt er als jullie het doel halen?

We maken de DVD en het boekje en zullen deze presenteren op een nader bekend te maken datum eind 2015. De mensen die ons gefinancierd hebben zullen hun bestellingen ontvangen en we gaan een spetterende presentatie houden met een groot feest.

Wat gebeurt er als jullie het doel niet halen?

Ook dan zullen we gewoon de DVD en het boekje maken. Echter zal het dan fiks in de eigen portemonnee te voelen zijn want het team heeft het volledige bedrag voorgeschoten. Bovendien hebben we dan (fiks) hogere kosten voor Indiegogo.

De mensen die ons gefinancierd hebben zullen dus gewoon hun bestellingen ontvangen. Ook zal er een presentatie zijn maar dan in een iets minder spetterende vorm.

Wat gaat er de komende tijd gebeuren?

Allereerst gaan Marcel & Marjolein verder met het afnemen van interviews en het schieten van sfeerbeelden. Al het beeldmateriaal hiervan gaat verzameld worden en afgemonteerd worden tot een goed lopend verhaal met mooie muziek en leuke beelden. Als laatste zal er een engelstalige ondertiteling worden toegevoegd.

In de tussentijd wordt het boekje samengesteld. Welke informatie moet erin en hoe gaan we de boel vormgeven? Dit wordt door het Silver Circle team gedaan.

Mochten we voorbij het doel gaan qua inkomsten dan zullen we de overige inkomsten direct laten terugvloeien in de stichting.
