Help give Todd's family a home
Todd and his wife Heather had a goal to move closer to Heather's work. The commute from Ferryville to LaCrosse was getting to be way too long for Heather, and they wanted to be closer to their son Johnathon and other family.
They recently bought a house just north of Stoddard. The house had been neglected for many years, but it was affordable. Todd, being ready and able, jumped in and began scraping, removing carpet and cabinets, rebuilding the deck, and removing the hot tub from the living room. To improve the view of the Mississippi river, Todd trimmed trees and cleaned up the brush. As he was trimming the front yard ash tree, he fell from a 20-foot-high branch onto the asphalt driveway. He most likely passed out, as he showed no sign of trying to break his fall, and he didn’t call out or yell. Todd's son, Leo was with him when he fell. Thanks to Leo and Zahara's quick actions, paramedics arrived quickly and rushed Todd to the hospital. He spent more than a week in the Critical Care Unit with doctors, nurses and technicians working to save his life. Tragically, Todd succumbed to his injuries after ten days fighting to live.
Todd and Heather have two young children together: Leo and Zahara. Todd's son, Ben is studying at UW Madison, and Heather's son, Johnathon is studying and working in La Crosse with his wife Erin and their son Sebastion.
Todd's and Heather's new home is not livable. Heather now has two mortgages to pay. She has very limited time and resources to continue Todd's work and move in with her youngest two children.
We will be organizing volunteer work crews to help get the house ready, but there are so many unknown expenses, and we'll have to hire contractors to help.
Please help out if you can.
