Milo came to live with me shortly after I became a widow. He has been my companion for 6 years and we have always done right by each other. Recently he began to limp on his back leg. We went to the vet and learned that he needs surgery on his knee and if left untreated, may soon have difficulty walking at all. Milo has always been an exceptionally active dog. Despite his pain, he tries to run throughout the backyard and is eager to be taken for real walks. It is distressing to see him denied the activities he has always loved.
I try to ensure that Milo will always be taken care of. To that end, I have insurance for him. My theory was that I never wanted to have to choose between his needs and mine. Unfortunately, the insurance specifically excludes Milo's diagnosis. In addition, due to an accident last September, I have been unable to work at my usual profession so this hits at a time when I am struggling financially.
I need to raise $1000 to add to the money I can manage ($300) so that Milo can have his surgery and physical therapy. If I even come close, I would go ahead with the surgery and borrow the shortfall. If I raise only a little money and cannot have the surgery done, I would contribute what I raised to the Babylon Animal Shelter.
I have rescued 4 dogs over the last 30 years and made sure they were well taken care of. I feel that I am failing Milo and so I'm asking for your help. If you cannot contribute, perhaps you can pass this along to someone who can. Thank you.
