This campaign is raising funds on behalf on 2nd Bothwell Scout Group which is a member of the Scout Association (UK). As such we are a registered charity in the UK. Unfortunately, since we are based in the UK this campaign cannot be verified as nonprofit by Indiegogo. All contributions will however go directly to 2nd Bothwell Scout Group.

Who are we?

2nd Bothwell Scout Group are based in Glasgow, Scotland. We've been established since 1919 - only twelve years after Scouting was born! We currently have over 50 members who are aged from 8 all the way up to 17 years old. The Group is completely voluntary and is supported by 6 leaders.

In 2005 we decided to change our Neckie of Green and White and adopt the Modern Douglas Tartan. As a Scottish troop we felt a tartan neckie was more apt. Modern Douglas was chosen as it was the Tartan worn by the Cameronians, Lanarkshires own army regiment with a historical base in Hamilton. Until 2008, Hamilton was the Scout District we fell under.

The Project

The Group currently has only one tent which was gifted to us by another Scout Group. We have used this tent for the past few years at summer camps and at jamborees where Scouts from around the World meet up. Unfortunately, this tent is over 25 years old and as such is no longer suitable as it does not provide enough protection from the wind and rain - especially on week long camps!

Scout Patrol Tent

We are therefore looking to secure funding to help purchase two new tents. This will enable us to replace our existing tent as well as increase the number of people who can attend camps/jamborees. The tents that we are hoping to purchase are the 'old fashioned' canvas style Scout Patrol tent. These tents are made from heavy duty canvas and will easily last over 20 years. Therefore your contribution will have a lasting effect and will benefit both current and future members of the Scout Group!
