About the Geekery

Purveyor of Geekery was started when my husband and I decided to start our family. Instead of continuing in my corporate world addiction, I wanted to use my powers for good instead of evil*. In the last year and half I've worked with business owners around the world (yes: world, CRAZY! check out my client map here) getting their businesses in gear, from marketing to consulting to training. In my spare time I've helped non-profits with their engagement strategies like the jQuery Foundation, mentor people in new skill sets and drink coffee to keep up with the pace. I want to continue doing this, only on a slightly larger scale.

* Evil: [ee-vuhl] adjective Used to describe businesses who use disclaimers as a way to negate their actual offer and rip customers off via small print. The dark side really didn't have cookies, just a Keurig. No thanks.

What About the Big Girl Pants

While focusing on everyone else's business, Purveyor of Geekery has neglected to take itself seriously as its own business entity. Neglected. Depressed. Miserably and Lonely, the little business sulks in the corner. It's time to start taking her seriously.

1. PoG needs a new computer. Seriously, the old one was on it's last leg years ago and I've been borrowing a family member's computer to make it by for the last year. You can only borrow something for so long before it crosses the line from "borrowing" to "taking."

Worse case scenario, I'll throw the components of my old laptop into a barebones case that it is compatible with. The worse case scenario is reflected in the funding amount set. Any money over the amount I am trying to raise will go towards better equipment. The idea of not having to duck tape a computer together would be fantastic!

2. Purveyor of Geekery needs a home, officially. I'm looking at space in a start-up incubator in the county over which also just happens to have non-astronomical Business Tax Fees as the city I would have to register if I filed locally.

Any and all funds will be put towards these two areas, above or below the amount set.

What You Get

Perks! Please check out the different levels to the right. By helping my fund, you have the chance to get design, consultation, or training for yourself, friends and family or the non-profit of your choice. Contributions of $100 or more will get a gift certificate with matching funds from me towards the same, so for instance $100 becomes a $200 gift certificate.

The Impact

Purveyor of Geekery has helped over 500 clients last year with their business goals. That is an insane number to think of: almost two people a working day on the road to no longer being reliant on corporate culture to make ends meet. Without a functioning computer, this is no longer feasible, obviously. Moving forward it will continue bring affordable services but will focus more on self sustainability, or teaching business owners how to raise successful businesses on their own as well.
