Hello! As some of you may already know, my name is Alex Castille, and I’ve spent the last five years working in Early Childhood Education. In the last year or so, I started writing children’s and illustrating word books, releasing some of them on iBooks. People often ask if they can get physical copies of the books, but unfortunately I can’t afford the cost to get any of them put into production. But I’ve decided that I’m going to ask for help. Because I believe that this is something I'm good at and something that I can be successful with, so I’m ready to get out there and try to make it happen.
That’s where this campaign comes in. I am asking friends, family, or even strangers to help me fund this venture of my first run of physical books. It would be an awesome experience to finally have physical copies that I can donate to childcare centers and libraries around Portland, as well as have some available for people who would like to purchase a copy for their little one.
This book, Yuck Yucks and Yum Yums that I am trying to get printed is one that I think can be very beneficial to the toddlers who are in the midst of exploring the world through their mouths. I also feel that this book will be especially beneficial for teachers and little ones in childcare centers where they regularly use art materials that some kiddos find irresistible and must taste. I believe that Yuck Yucks and Yum Yums will be a useful tool for parents, teachers, or any caregiver with little ones.
The printing costs come to $700, the shipping costs come to $200, and a proof costs $50 (might have to get 2), bringing the total cost to $950-1000. These costs would cover the printing of a proof (2 if need be), 200 copies of Yuck Yucks and Yum Yums, as well as door-to-door shipping.
I’ve created a few perks to give you some incentive to donate to this campaign, with each perk including the items in the previous tiers. It goes from a personalized Thank You letter (donation of $5) up to a personalized Thank You song (donation of $100). The middle tier perk (a donation of $20) will get you a copy of the book, stickers of images from the book, and the personalized Thank You letter.
