Hello, and thank you for stopping by our crowdfunding page. My name is Justin R. Romine, and I am an award winning filmmaker and professor of film at the University in Valencia County here in New Mexico. At the UNM VC Campus, I teach film techniques to students in a lower economical area in New Mexico, giving students the chance to explore their options in academics. Most of my film students have no experience outside of the classroom, this is where I find it important to give my students an opportunity to work on a live set.
"Hi Mommy" is centered around a father and daughter, who recently lost two loved ones, and they are propelled into dark and violent tragedies that rip their family apart. In the years after, Jake, Addison's father, tries to protect Addison from the fate bestowed on all women in their family. But family secrets never stay buried. A malevoilent and familiar demonic force plagued her mother and grandmother and now haunts Addison. Addison and Jake must dig deep into their family history to uncover the unnatural, in hopes of retaining Addison's humanity before it's lost to the darkness.
Thanks to your donations we will be able to produce this film, give my students valuable on-set experience, and create an amazing horror/thriller that pushes the boundaries and questions sanity, and how well you know your family.
While this is an independent short film, I still like to treat my crew and actors as professionals. We are asking for $3,000 to get this project done. The money will go to pay key actors, crew membersfor their time, and craft services, travel, locations costs, props, and special effects amongst other film related needs.
By donating money, you are helping fund a film. Everyone who donates money at any level to this project is listed as a Funder/Producer in the final credits of the film. You can donate as little as $5 and as much as $500. Each level of funding will offer various perks pertaining to the film. From digital copies, DVDs, autographed scripts, screenings, dinner with the cast and crew, and Producer credits.
The cost to make a short film is between $3,000-$5,000, and our campaign is requesting $3,000, as our target for the next month. We may seek alternate funding, which would delay the production, but whether our fundraising goal is met or not, the film will still be made.
This film is genre bending, innovative, and is helping film students learn on a set. Your contribution and support gives students the opportunity to work on a film, and who knows, this experience, my hope is, will spur students to make their own movies, and pursue a career in the film industry. I'm not selfish, I want my students to be my competitors and my peers, which knowing my experiences on sets, it can be life changing.
Most of my previous projects were funded through IndieGoGo and we offered similar perks. Every project has been fully funded and we made good on all of our perks.
Making films is my life, teaching film studies is my calling. Imagine the experience these students will have working on a set, with professional actors, and crew members. What they will learn is priceless, but inspiring them is key.
Doing an ultra-low budget film is risky, but the rewards are endless. Imagine living in the poorest county in your state, where you haven't had the opportunity to do much, let alone afford to go to college. Then a program is offered, it gives you an opportunity to learn film, at the college! Now imagine, getting a chance to work on a professional film, because the professor wants to put his students on a set.
Help me give these students the chance to work on a film and change their lives.
The students will learn every aspect by observing and working on the film as a crew member. Many of them will be getting their very first film credit! I know how addicting being on set can be, I have every intention of turning all of my students into filmmakers.
