MISSION STATEMENT
We aim to create a story that can resonate with everyone while also creating characters that are often not represented enough in the media. Because of that our project dives into the experience of heartache and heartbreak, something everyone, queer or not, has felt before. Queer stories need to keep being told, now more than ever.
THE STORY
26 year old Brie just got horribly dumped with absolutely no warning by her girlfriend of 3 years.
Her way of handling the break up? Constantly ripping her heart out of her chest for 9 hours. Something she has been doing every time she starts feeling too much.
For the first couple of weeks after the break up this works well for Brie, a way to numb her heartache. That is until she runs into Summer at her local coffee shop!
This encounter forces Brie to have to remove her heart in the shop's public bathroom, where she stores it (somewhat-safely) inside a Chinese take out box.
Once Brie returns home she realizes she doesn’t have her heart with her, and it is now up to her to get it back before she can’t feel anything at all.
In her journey Brie meets multiple characters that guide her on her quest, as well as help her realize the importance of her heart.
DIRECTORS STATEMENT
Have you ever had someone steal your heart? Has anyone ever ripped it out? This film surrounds itself with metaphors to play into a world where emotions can be avoided and even ignored. My whole life I’ve considered myself someone that feels too much, and that leads to me getting hurt with that same intensity, making me wish I could be completely emotionless. This film portrays just that; the intensity of emotions and the weight they have on us, as well as the possibility of getting rid of them. It will highlight the importance of listening to what we feel, rather than ignoring them because it hurts too much. With this story I will show the burden of feelings and heartbreak intertwined in a fun and witty story centered around the vibrant queer community of New York. I want to portray complex queer characters in situations most people could relate to, and represent a part of the community we don’t often show in media.
OUR DIFFERENCE FROM OTHERS!
There is a lack of representation in front AND behind the camera that is still being fought over today. This project aims to keep creating impactful stories surrounding women and the LGBTQ+ Community that is lacking in our society. Doing this while also having a crew of mainly women in a male dominated industry is what makes us proud to be creating this project.
OUR BUDGET
In order to make our short film come to life, we require funding for locations, production design, permits, etc.
Each individual in our crew is a key element in making this vision possible and are valued immensely, with that in mind we need to provide proper food for everyone, as well as water and coffee.
DONATE/SHARE!
Big or small anything you can donate will be so greatly appreciated, not to mention it will bring us closer to our goal! If you can't donate we would love if you could share our campaign with friends and/or family.
Our team thanks you so much!
