Guiding artists to greater success in the ever-changing music industry has always been our mission. Today, we are ready to bring that mission to the next level with the launch of Knowledge to Get Known, an Indie Band Guru sister site for dedicated musicians only.

While IndieBandGuru.com will continue to publish honest, impactful music reviews, Knowledge to Get Known (KtGK) will be filled with artist-centric informational posts, guides, teaching videos, an upcoming podcast, and more. We aim to be one of the few shining lights guiding independent artists to build a real career without the need for a major label. KtGK will present everything you need to know to achieve success— from what a good press kit contains to building relationships with your fans, and everything in between.

Hi, I am Keith Profeta. I founded Indie Band Guru a decade ago to propel unknown bands out of obscurity to a place where they can finally reach and connect with their fans. I love discovering new music and writing reviews, but my real passion is in directing artists on the path to a successful career in music.

We find that so many bands come to IBG looking for guidance and management. Most of them are not ready. At some point, after they have gone through what we have shared, they are. We want to create a simple option to get them the services they need without signing debilitating contracts. The future could lead to artist coaching or virtual management.

-The independent music scene could really use something like this. Indie Band Guru and Knowledge To Get Known will keep growing to fill the needs of our devoted supporters.

What We Are Funding

Indie Band Guru needs to grow our Knowledge To Get Known team, and we need to build a new site.

-We have found the right people to bring on as editorial director, social media director, and web designer. These pros will help us get off and running much quicker. This will allow us to scale our offerings and help many more artists.

-With some additional equipment, such as professional microphones and video recording tools, we can provide more of our hard-earned knowledge in an easy to digest way so you can reach the success you truly deserve.

We know money is tight ~ for all of us. This is why we will continue to work on a shoestring budget but every little bit helps. Together we can create something much bigger and professionally produced for all of us to use for the betterment of the independent music industry as a whole.

Why Crowdfunding

We are building something for all artists that create, sing, produce, perform, record, or otherwise genuinely love independent music. No bank, venture capitalist, or angel investor could ever have the same passion that all of us have. Plus, realistically, they usually lack the vision to back independent creatives.

We want to work as a team with people that have the same deep affection for independent music that we do. This is the real reason we are doing this crowdfunding campaign. The music industry has been turned on its head and the indies will soon be at the top — Indie Band Guru wants to lead that charge.
