Hi! I'm Jacob, and I'm a drummer and singer-songwriter from Washington State, now living in Boston after graduating from the Berklee College of Music.
I've been fascinated by both music and storytelling for as long as I can remember. When I was really young, I would write little stories and make copies of them for my classmates to read. I loved hearing how they interpreted the story and the journey that it took them on. My favorite songs do the same thing for me. They create a milestone in my life, even a shared one with a friend or family member. When I hear them now, they take me back to a moment, or remind me of someone. I'm usually drumming for someone else's song, which is still one of my favorite things to do! I've always considered myself to be "just a drummer," but this album is a big step towards being more open and vulnerable - singing my own stories for the first time.
The songs are written and ready to be recorded - this Indiegogo campaign is the final step toward creating my first-ever, professionally produced studio album.

This campaign is raising funds for my professionally recorded album with Mike Davidson, a Boston-based producer and engineer with 15+ years of experience working with both established and up-and-coming musicians. Together, Mike and I are bringing these songs from minimal acoustic performances to larger scale arrangements that allow me to record my other instruments for a full-band sound!
I've been able to cover the costs of recording and producing one song, which is ready for you to check out right here on this page. This first song is called “Immune to You,” and you can check it out below!
While I was able to fund the recording process for "Immune to You" on my own, studio time costs add up quickly to create an album of songs at this quality. With that said, this campaign can give us a unique opportunity to collaborate and make great music together. Your donation will cover the following costs of my project:
1. Pre-Production: This is where everything starts. Mike and I will start crafting the arrangements for each of the songs that will go on the album. We’ll rehearse to fine-tune the songs and talk through new and exciting ideas for how to approach the recording process.
2. Recording: This is when we enter the studio and start capturing the music, and it's where the songs become what you'll hear on this album. This campaign will play a huge role in making sure we can reserve enough studio time to record the drums, bass, acoustic and electric guitar, piano, and vocals. (At least! We may be able to add more: maybe a cello, or a slide guitar...)
3. Mixing & Mastering: Each track will get mixed to create the right balance between instruments, texture, and color that make up a song. As a final step, the album will be mastered from beginning to end so that the listening experience is cohesive and carefully choreographed from start to finish.

This project is the launching point for my career in music.
I would be thrilled to be able to share an album of this quality with everyone who has followed me on my journey up to this point. In my 10+ years of studying, practicing, performing, and writing music, I've learned that music is such a strong community and relationship builder.
I am not only super grateful to meet new people and go deeper in existing relationships among fellow musicians, but also for the love and support of friends and family who come to see me perform or listen to my recordings. These songs are a culmination of years of encouragement and support from friends and family who have helped me reach an enormous milestone in my life: to attend and finish Berklee.
During my time there, I had the opportunity to expand my craft and skills for writing and performing on different instruments. It's truly a blessing to have been able to study with the amazing teachers at the school (like Paula Cole & Livingston Taylor) and to be inspired by fellow students from all over the world. If anything, going to Berklee humbled me immensely and ignited a desire to practice, study, explore, and stand in my own identify as a drummer & singer-songwriter with more confidence.
Not only would the success of this project allow me to have music easily accessible online for fans and supporters to listen to, but it would serve as a sample of who I am as an artist and songwriter. This can open the door to more opportunities for me to work with other writers, producers, and artists later on down the road in my career in music - wherever it may take me!
