John Fitzgerald Keitel is an award-winning producer, director, cinematographer,
and editor whose work has screened at festivals from Sundance to Berlin and aired on the BBC, Sundance Channel, MTV, HBO, Showtime, A&E, and BET, among others. Past projects include the Telluride Film Festival hit Prodigal Sons for
the Sundance Channel and two documentaries with Drew Barrymore,
including The Best Place to Start for MTV.
John is the writer-director of the award-winning feature Defying Gravity, as well
as the editor of Latter Days. His documentary, An All-American Story,
was an official Sundance selection and received the Gold Plaque at the Chicago
International Film Festival and the David L. Wolper Achievement Award from the
Independent Documentary Association. He has produced and edited many behind-the-scenes specials for Hollywood
films, including: Ali, As Good As It Gets, Charlie’s Angels, Big Daddy, Everest, and Stuart Little.
John is a graduate of Stanford University (BA, Human Biology & Drama) and the
University of Southern California School of Cinematic Arts (MA).
