The Keep Clean & Run campaign

of marine littering is caused by trash that comes by the inner land. Over the past decades, the presence
of waste in the world’s seas and oceans has been an ever-increasing phenomenon.
In order to invert this trend, we must take action.
2 runners, 400 km, 8 days, 1 goal: cleaning
up a trail from Valle d’Aosta to Liguria from litter. Each day the athletes will cover an average of 50 km
and pick up litter that they find on their way. Along with their effort,
citizens, educational establishments, enterprises, associations and
municipalities will be invited to join the clean-up activity.
In the frame of the EU funded LIFE
EWWR+ project AICA (International
Association for Environmental Communication) coordinates the activities
inherent the European Clean Up Day (ECUD), a Europe-wide
annual clean-up day.
The “Keep
Clean & Run” campaign is an additional effort that AICA wants to make
in order to boost the visibility of the issue and to increase the number of
participants to the ECUD in Europe. Only if many get involved we can really
achieve to reduce littering in nature. We need your help to make
it possible!

La campagna Pulisci e Corri
Il 70% dei rifiuti abbandonati in mare è causato da
rifiuti provenienti dall’entroterra. Negli ultimi decenni, la contaminazione e
l’inquinamento dei mari e oceani sono cresciuti costantemente. Per invertire questa tendenza,
dobbiamo agire.

corridori, 400 km, 8 giorni, 1 solo obiettivo: pulire e raccogliere rifiuti su un sentiero dalla Valle d’Aosta fino
alla Liguria. Ogni giorno, gli atleti percorreranno una media di 50 km e
raccoglieranno i rifiuti abbandonati lungo il percorso. Congiuntamente al loro
sforzo, cittadini, istituti scolastici, aziende, associazioni e pubbliche
amministrazioni saranno invitate a unirsi nelle attività di pulizia.
Nell’ambito del progetto LIFE EWWR+, finanziato
dalla UE, AICA (Associazione Internazionale per la Comunicazione Ambientale)
coordina le attività inerenti all’European
Clean Up Day (ECUD), una giornata annuale europea di pulizia straordinaria
del territorio.
La campagna “Pulisci
e Corri” è uno sforzo aggiuntivo che AICA intende realizzare per accentuare
la visibilità mediatica dell’attività incrementando così il numero di
partecipanti all’ECUD in Europa. Solo se ci facciamo coinvolgere in molti
riusciremo a ridurre l’abbandono dei rifiuti in natura. Abbiamo bisogno del
vostro aiuto e della vostra partecipazione!

The 2.000€ that we hope to gather with
this crowdfunding campaign would allow us to fund the practical organization of
the clean-up activity in each one of the 8 stages.
AICA has already found some technical
partners and private sponsors that will contribute to cover:

Expenses of the athletes for 7 nights and 8 days
(hotel accommodation, meals, technical equipment) etc.

The Impact
The ECUD is at its 2° edition this year. In 2014, AICA had already organized a central event in Italy to enhance the
visibility of the campaign: thanks to the participation of Italy’s Ministry of
Environment, two main clean up events
had been organized (one in Bologna, in front of the central station and the
other one in Rome, in Piazza Vittorio Emanuele). The Environment Minister
himself, Gianluca Galletti, has taken part to these events, along with the
Secretary for Environment Barbara Degani. This helped us achieve a greater media
coverage and enhance the sensitization of citizen’s to the issue.
Last year’s results? 400.000 people involved in Italy,
800.000 in Europe. 21 tons of trash collected in Italy, 2.600 tons in Europe.
The Keep
Clean & Run campaign takes our goal to a higher stake. Not only will we involve (again) the Ministry of
Environment and other relevant stakeholders, but we also want to involve more
citizens in the main event. Our goal is to:

Collect as much
waste as possible
over the 400 km of trail
-
Increase the
media attention to the issue so that as many participants as possible take part to the
ECUD, if not in the central event, by organizing events in their surroundings
This is why we need your help. Our motivation
and the contributions of our technical sponsors are not enough to achieve this
goal.

L’ECUD è alla 2° edizione
quest'anno. Nel 2014, AICA aveva già organizzato un evento centrale in Italia per migliorare la visibilità della
campagna: grazie alla partecipazione del Ministero dell'Ambiente, erano stati
organizzati due principali eventi di pulizia (uno a Bologna, di fronte alla
stazione centrale e l'altra a Roma, in Piazza Vittorio Emanuele). Il ministro
dell'Ambiente stesso, Gianluca Galletti, ha preso parte a questi eventi,
insieme con il Sottosegretario per l'Ambiente Barbara Degani. Questo ci ha consentito
di raggiungere una copertura mediatica significativa e di migliorare la
sensibilizzazione dei cittadini di al problema.
I risultati dello scorso anno? 400.000
persone coinvolte in Italia, 800.000
in Europa. 21 tonnellate di rifiuti
raccolti in Italia, 2.600 tonnellate in
Europa.
La campagna Pulisci & Corri
porta il nostro obiettivo a un livello ancor più alto. Non solo coinvolgeremo nuovamente
il Ministero dell'Ambiente e altre portatori di interesse, ma vorremmo anche
coinvolgere più cittadini nell’evento centrale. Il nostro obiettivo è quello
di:
- Raccogliere quanti più rifiuti possibili
nei 400 km di percorso
- Aumentare l'attenzione rivolta dai
media al problema in modo da coinvolgere il maggior numero possibile di
persone nell’ECUD, se non nell’evento centrale, per l'organizzazione di eventi
nel loro territorio.
È per questo che abbiamo bisogno del vostro aiuto!
