See why this company was built and why the first ballet is about gender inequality.
The premiere at Studio Theater at Strathmore in August 2016 was a success and now we want to share this ballet with the Washington D.C. community.
"Worth seeing for the pure dance fan, the ballet lover and or anyone seeking to understand how art can make a difference." - Raquel Lake from DC Dance Journalism
This project started with Ivy Chow's MFA research topic on the inequality of ballet female choreographers which compelled her to start a dance company, I.C. Movement Project, thus, to join the short list of female choreographers and directors.
The ballet investigates our society's systemic gender inequality. Ivy Chow created the piece to spark a dialogue about gender disparity and to compel audiences and patrons to fight for a paradigm shift. Original score composed by George Shaw - the story behind the music collaboration.
COME SEE THE SHOW
March 3, 7:30pm @ Atlas Sprenger Theatre
Get your tickets here http://www.atlasarts.org/event/i-c-movement-project-through-the-glass-ceiling/
The creation of this ballet like all art is expensive. Even if the show sells out, it does not cover basic costs - as the tickets are profit shared with the theater. We need your donations to help pay for 10 performing artists and Production Manager.
I.C. Movement Project is fiscally sponsored by CityDance, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. All donations will receive a tax exemption letter.
