FINAL DAYS OF CAMPAIGN -WILL CLOSE FRIDAY, OCT 30th at 5pm EST!!
****UPDATE****
Hobo is making an AEA Showcase performance run this November 5th -21st in Williamsburg, Brooklyn (St. Paul's Theater) for 11 performances!
For this intense next step of the show, we've expanded the musical to 90 minutes, and have increased the budget to promote awareness of the production.
Now that we met our first fundraising goal in 2014, we're shooting for a second goal this Fall: an additional $2200 raised (for a grand total of $4615) to help cover press representative and marketing costs. We'll be offering many of the same, wonderful perks as well as additional experiences/offerings for you kin and cousins!
We're beyond excited to bring this show back to life for you. Any way you can support it is immensely appreciated!

Howdy! We are Jara Jones and Abigail Taylor-Sansom. Jara and Abigail are Off-Broadway actors and playwrights residing in New York City. Jara's newest one man show,
King Of the Hobos was accepted into the ONE MAN TALKING/NEW WORKS SERIES in Fall 2014. This solo American folk-rock musical is a historical examination of the decline of hobo culture set against the backdrop of the Great Depression. Our narrator, Gilly, holds a makeshift funeral for a real -life hobo icon and activist, James Eads How, the "King of the Hobos", and shares tips of survival and strength to the assembled crowd.
We're looking for our most ardent supporters to ask for contributions. In return, we're offering the following perks:
- Signed copies of our program from the cast and crew
- Signed copies of Jara's wonderfully absurd book of poems, RAMSHACKLE
- A pair of tickets to the show
- Specialized, commissioned songs written by Jara just for you
-
A walk on role in the show (it's full of audience participation)
- A chance to bring KING OF THE HOBOS to your hometown
Why this show?
Jara's always been fascinated with combining solo performance with a deeper examination of history. He won an award (Outstanding Actor in Solo Performance) for his last original solo work: GHOST ON A STICK, and together with Abigail,he plans to use this show to further explore how the underclass in America suffer and survive, beyond mere stereotype.
