About the film
Recently we have started producing a documentary film about KNOX boxing gym.
The reason we wanted to make this film was because for a while we have wanted to work together on a film project but have never had the right idea. By chance we stumbled across the unsuspecting boxing gym that is KNOX on the second floor of a building in the Wicker of Sheffield. After seeing how some of the classes were ran via social media, we knew there were some stories to be told from this gym by some of the characters that are involved with it, especially by the owner of the gym, Steve, and the gyms trainer, Damien.
KNOX is a small gym based in Sheffield that hosts daily sessions for people of all ages. One of the most familiar faces you'll see at the gym is Damien (pictured below), also known as Combo. He runs the sessions where he encourages everyone to get involved and never say "I can't do it". Having taken part in some of his sessions it's needless to say he's passionate about pushing people to their fullest potential.

Another personality you can't miss at the gym is Steve (pictured below). The owner of the gym who no longer boxes himself, but still comes down to the gym almost daily to watch the youngsters box and to give the next generation some wise words of advice. As well as having more than a few funny stories to tell about his involvement with the sport over the years, Steve has a clear love for the boxing family he has built over the years since opening the gym.

There seems to be clear trend here of community. The gym seems to attract regulars to keep coming back. Everyone is treated like family within Knox.
Having already conducted one extensive interview with Damien, we know there is so much to learn about these main guys from the gym, their lives & the sport of boxing in general.
Regardless of how much is gained from this crowdfuder, we are excited to make this film and to see what stories are told. Any contributions made will purely be put towards helping us use better equipment, utilise pieces of music that we feel will help the film most and to obtain archive footage that will support pieces of the interviews we use. Any donations that are not used on the production will be donated to the gym itself!
We would appreciate massively any forms of contributions in helping us to make the best film we possibly can.
We will be updating this page as the film progresses through the production process and hope you will enjoy joining us on this journey.
Why We Need Your Help
We aren't looking for any particularly amount of funding for this film as we are going to be doing our best to produce this film regardless of additional funding. But any funding we do receive will help us to heighten the production value. In particular the funding will help us to purchase/convert old pieces of archive footage and we'd like ti incorporate archive footage as a significant part of the film. As well as being able to use quality musical score, which can sometimes be expensive.
There are different perks for however much is contributed as you can see, we appreciate any kind of help at all. Any funds that aren't used for the production will be given back to the gym to help them in whatever way they wish, as a thank you for allowing us to tell their story.
