UPDATE: Wonderful news! We have met our $1,000 goal! To everyone who has helped us, we are so grateful for your support in this campaign. It means the world to us.
However, we still have one more week before the campaign ends. Because of this, we plan on setting a stretch goal of $5,000 -- the cost of the new website. This may seem like a big goal, but it could mean more funding for KVERS in the future! Please, help us in any way you can, and let's finish up this last week strong! Thank you!
Knoxville Volunteer Emergency Rescue Squad
Who we are: "In your most critical hour...we are there." The Knoxville Volunteer Emergency Rescue Squad is an organization that was established to serve the community in 1958. Since then, we have grown into one of the most important institutions that cares for the people of Knoxville and Knox County. Today, we consists of 146 volunteers, just like you, from the local community who donate their time and efforts in order to help their neighbors. Together these volunteers respond to nearly 2,000 rescue calls and work over 40,000 hours annually. We serve the community 365 days a year and have stations in North, South, East, and West Knox County.
The Knoxville Volunteer Emergency Rescue Squad (KVERS) provides the following services. •Primary rescue services to the citizens of Knox County •Emergency medical first response •Medical stand-by •Water rescue and recovery •Confined space operations/land-based search operations •Heavy/Technical rescue •Medical assistance at University of Tennessee Football games.
Below is Chief Frazier explaining where KVERS provides its services.
What we need: The Knoxville Volunteer Emergency Rescue Squad does not charge anything for its services, and our members do not receive any compensation. We are considered a necessary service by Knox County, but we are severely underfunded compared to other necessary services, such as KPD, KFD, and Rural Metro. We have been able to serve Knox County and Knoxville for 55 years because of the great people in this area, and we need your help to continue our service.
It takes $1.5 million for KVERS to provide its services each year, and we were given a $142,000 budget by Knox County. We are currently in the process of updating our website because we still do all of our filing on paper. The estimate that we received for the overhaul of our website is $5,000. With this overhaul, we will not have to fill out our reports by hand, and we will be more equipped to keep track of all of our files.
What you get: In response to your donation, we have many perks available. For a donation of five dollars, you will get mentioned on our Facebook page. For ten dollars, you will receive a Knoxville Volunteer Emergency Rescue Squad sticker, and a twenty five dollar donation will get you a KVERS coin. The coin and sticker are only available through KVERS and are great reminders of what you have done to help people just like yourself.
For a donation of seventy-five dollars, you will have the opportunity to take a CPR training class. This donation will not only allow KVERS to be more equipped, but it will also enable you to help someone in need. You will be able to see the benefits of your donations because it goes directly toward saving lives right here in Knoxville and Knox County.
How it helps: For some people in Knoxville or Knox County, the Knoxville Volunteer Emergency Rescue Squad may be the first responders when they are in a crisis. Your donation could be difference that provides someone the aid that saves their life. Your contribution strengthens your community and provides you and your neighbor’s life-saving aid if and when it is needed. KVERS is always in need of donations because it is a non-profit organization and consists solely of volunteers.
