Project Explained
My name is Dmitriy Kushnir. I am the author of such book series as The Slavic Way and Rodnover. Time and time again, it has been suggested to me that building a temple where Slavic and Norse pagans (or heathens) can come together and honor their deities would be a good idea. Recently, it was brought up yet another time. So I said ... "Why not?!" ... "Let's do it!" My family has a plot of land near Zhitomir, Ukraine, which would be an ideal spot for the Temple. It is secluded, near a forest and near a river. A perfect spot for the Temple.
This project will consist of several phases:
Phase 1: The Design
It takes money to hire an architect in order to create an individual project for a building. On average, a complete project by an architect to the last nail costs approximately $5,000. However, I know an architect, and he became very passionate about the idea of a Slavic / Norse Temple, he agreed to complete it for approximately $2,000
Cost of Phase 1: $2,000
Phase 2: The Foundation
It doesn't take much to complete this phase, but the foundation has to settle of the period of several months. This way it will not crack or crumble in the long run. It has to be done right the first time.
Cost of Phase 2: $2,000
Phase 3: The Box
Again, I know an owner of a lumberyard and a construction firm. The cost of building with 30cm logs will be approximately $300/square meter. The Temple itself will be somewhere between 80-120 square meters (depending on the funds collected). This phase will be completed within several months.
Cost of Phase 3: $24,000-$36,000
Phase 4: Roof and Windows
This phase will have to be completed immediately following phase 3. Roof and windows, depending on materials and size, will cost between $5,000 and $10,000.
Cost of Phase 4: $5,000-$10,000
Phase 5: Communications
There are several things each home needs: water, power and heating. The goal here is to make this Temple completely self-sufficient. For power it would have to be either wind energy or water energy (there is a river within reach), and the cost for that will be approximately $5,000. For water, it would have to be an artesian well, the cost for that will be approximately $2,000. Heating will be done with firewood, and there is a forest nearby ... no cost.
Cost of Phase 5: $7,000
Phase 6: Interior Decoration
I will be completely honest with you. If this project makes it this far, I will find craftsmen and masters, who will carve the idols and set up the interior of the Temple at my own expense.
