MADAGASCAR CYCLONE RECOVERY
Madagascar: Enawo Cyclone - 700.000 people will be directly affected by Enawo according to the Red Cross team in Madagascar.
Enawo hit the North East of Madagascar on Tuesday morning at 9am GMT. The storm was a category 4 storm with winds up to 210km/h and gales of 290km/h. The true extent of the damage will not be clear for many days, and possibly weeks, as much of the region has poor infrastructure and remains dependent on certain key agricultural produce in order for communities to survive.
Most of the S.A.V.A region currently has no access to electricity and clean water.
85% of ANTALAHA is destroyed including homes, schools and hospitals.
First estimates of the Vanilla harvest due in May is 80% destroyed which is the main economy of the area.
We have no first estimate of the number of fatalities at this stage, although we remain braced for some upsetting numbers.
MADA CHARITY has, and remains, focused in Antalaha,in the S.A.V.A region where the storm first hit the mainland. Our network remains strong and committed, prepared to work direct contact with the most affected areas, but we have been communicating, and actively working, with teams and resource based initiatives in Sambava (approx 85km from Antalaha). We are able to report via our network, the most relevant and up to date overview of the current situation:
Passage to many of the worst affected areas is being made difficult because the heavy rainfall has destroyed roads and caused mudslides, thus delivery of goods is, and will be, challenging.
OUR PRIORITY
In the face of such a devastating natural disaster we humbly ask for any sort of financial donation you can afford. We will be focusing our efforts on a number of fundamental, short term goals.

2. Collection and delivery of basic blankets (One Blanket cost 30.000 Ar X 400 =12.000.000Ar)
= 5.300 Euro.

3.Salt & Sugar

30 Bags of Sugar (1 Bag of 50kg Sugar costs 200 000Ar X 30 Bags= 1 200 000Ar) = 5.600Euro.
