About Maddi's Little Books
Maddi was a bright and cheerful young girl who loved books even at the early age of 3 years old. Unfortunately, she was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor. In order to keep her entertained during her hospital treatments, her Aunt Kerri wrote stories that her mother Donna illustrated. As a result, Maddi's Little Books were created. Today, the nonprofit organization From Maddi's Closet publishes Maddi's Little Books to support children like Maddi.
The Impact
Children battling cancer often spend many hours of their days waiting – waiting is difficult for children, but waiting with uncertainty or anticipation of some pretty difficult stuff ahead is especially trying. Filling those hours with distractions to keep the children occupied becomes a real challenge for parents who are struggling with their own emotions. Our goal is to supply children currently battling cancer at both Children's Hospital Los Angeles and Children's Hospital Orange County with at least one of Maddi's Little Books in hopes that these books provide the same joy and comfort to these kids that they gave Maddi.
