About us and our campaign

• Magda Meringue is an experimental two-woman twin sister band based out of Philadelphia, PA. Our whimsical style pays homage to classical composers while infusing elements of creative jazz. 

  We just released our demo album, “Scream in Your Face” on which you can find eleven original tracks. (Available on iTunes, Spotify, Amazon, etc.).  Lauren plays ukulele and upright bass and Jules plays keyboard, both of us vocalists.
  

  This is our first collection of music written collaboratively, though we've been playing together for most of our lives.  We've been performing at various venues throughout Philly, opening for other artists and headlining ourselves at local spots like Bob & Barbara's.  We more recently won the Philly Rising Standout for the month of June at World Café Live Philadelphia and we're so pumped to keep embracing Philly and earn it's love and support in return...and yours.

• We see ourselves as up and coming in Philadelphia and we aspire to tour the US while having the freedom to record new music.  Only thing is... We don't have promoters. We don't have tech people or a manager.  It's just the two of us.  Every single piece of music you hear on our recordings, we wrote and recorded ourselves.  We love what we do, but we have nowhere near the funds needed to make this dream a reality.  We're playing as many gigs as we can to gain exposure and some additional funds.  We're interested in collaboration with other artists who are able to help us promote our music and musical originality in general...to create an open minded musical realm of the industry that is not so focused on sex and media objectification and exploitation of humanity.

What We Need & What You Get

• We want to start with a goal of $5,000 towards funding our studio album, funding other musicians and funding our tour (transportation, promoting, etc.).
  
• All contributors will receive a comp pass to any of our shows!  We won't be able to do this without you, so we want to show you all the love we can.
  
• Again, it's just the two of us on our own trying to change the world.  Any contribution will be a huge help, so please help us out if you like what you hear!

How your contribution will help us reach our very big long-term goals

As we tour and network with other musicians, we hope to eventually write music for films, with a long-term goal of starting a charity for encouraging music in schools.  We would name it after our music mentor, who believed in our ability to entice people into a different realm of the musical language, to part with convention and creatively bend the roots.  We want to both honor him in every way for his tireless dedication to musical education, and all of the music and art therapists who use music every day to change the world.
