Summary
The purpose for this campaign is to help development of Mech Merc Company be ready for Steam early access. Backers will get Steam pre-release keys so they can play the career mode as it is being created, and higher tier backers will be able to leave their mark on the game.
Mech Merc Company is meant to pay homage to the classic Mechwarrior titles of the 90's and early 2000's. The design is largely based on Mechwarrior 2: Mercenaries with considerations from sequel titles. The gameplay will be playing missions, designing mechs, and managing your mercenary company. The target audience is those that want a more old school style hardcore mech simulation with complex mech designing and business management elements.
What sets Mech Merc Company apart is the mech customization is improvement on the best ideas from Mechwarrior games. Some more advance mechanics have been added such as weapons supporting multiple ammo types, weapon modification system, laser arrays, and manual guided missiles.
This campaign is flexible, because I am promising that Mech Merc Company will be for sale on Steam as part of the early access program at some point in some state. Even after launching into early access it will require many more years of development to be a finished game.
At the end of the campaign emails will be sent out with the Steam keys and instructions for submitting materials related to pilots and factions.
Perk Items
Pre-Release Steam Key: This will give to the game on Steam, and you will be able to play the career mode during the early stages of development before it is for sale.
Unique Pilot: Backers will be able to submit pilot call sign, description, portrait image, and voice clips for the creation of their own unique pilot that can be hired in career mode or used in instant action. Veteran pilots start with 60 gunnery skill and elite pilots start with 80 gunnery skill. Backers will be able to submit materials for their unique pilot at any point while the game is in development.
Criteria for unique pilot:
- Must be safe for work.
- Pilot call sign must be no more than 30 characters including spaces.
- Pilot description must be no more than 500 characters including spaces.
- Backer must have permission to allow this project to use the pilot image.
- If the pilot image is commissioned, then it must be made for commercial use.
- Pilot image must be a portrait of your pilot.
- Pilot image should be semi-realistic and not overly stylized.
- Pilot image must be 256x256 pixels or larger.
- Pilot image should be in PNG format with transparent background.
- Backer must have permission to allow this project to use the voice clips.
- Pilot voice clips need to be audible and in English.
Merc or Pirate Faction: Backers will be able to submit name, description, paint scheme description, and logo for your own mercenary company or pirate faction that will appear in the game. The paint scheme will be attempted to be created based on your description. Backers can submit materials for their faction at any point while the game is in development.
Criteria for Faction:
- Must be safe for work.
- Name must be no more than 30 characters including spaces.
- Description must be no more than 500 characters including spaces.
- Description of paint scheme should consist of colors and patterns.
- Backer must have permission to allow this project to use the faction logo.
- If the faction logo is commissioned, then it must be made for commercial use.
- Faction logo must be 256x256 pixels or larger.
- Faction logo should be in PNG format with transparent background.
For Patreon Supporters
For anyone who gave to the closed Patreon campaign do not have to back this campaign. For those that gave $10 or more can have their own unique legendary pilot, and for those that gave $20 or more can also have their own mercenary company or pirate faction.
