What is "The Book of MOJO"?

The Book of MOJO started out as a self-published webcomic. It's an Urban Fantasy story set in the near future that follows an unlikely duo, "Lucy," a 13 yr old runaway, and Mojo, a 7 foot tall enchanted statue.

Lucy wants to learn the deepest secrets of magic to reunite with her father, and Mojo has an unknown, dark origin that threatens both of them.

Last year we created a short teaser for the comic.
We had so much fun making this we thought, "Wouldn't it be incredible to bring these characters and this story to life?!"
The Story

The Book of Mojo tells the story of Lucy, a 13 year old runaway getting by on her wits and her limited training in witchcraft. Separated from her father, she seeks to master the secrets of magic in hopes of one day reuniting with him. Her life is turned upside down when a powerful magical artifact literally drops into her life.

The artifact, a 7 foot tall enchanted statue she calls Mojo, has no recollection of who or what it is, or where it came from. When Lucy agrees to help look into its origins, mostly for her own selfish reasons, it isn't long before Mojo's secret past threatens them both.
The World
Today magic is a thing of lore & fiction but what if, say...tomorrow, the universe awakens and what was once mythology is now fact?

That’s the world found inside THE BOOK OF MOJO. A place where Lucy must learn to balance the responsibility of her growing abilities, and navigate the perils of gritty streets and the dangerous forces that seek to use magic to advance their own twisted agendas.

What we're trying to do

We want to fund the production of a 8-10 minute short that can act as a "proof of concept" for an animated series or feature.
We've broken up the funding for our production into stages; first starting with story and development, going into design, through animation, and finally into lighting, compositing and rendering.

Every goal we meet allows us to complete another stage of production. We've already storyboarded and designed much of the pilot and we have an edited story reel up and ready to go. Now we're ready to step into the next stage!![]()
Our current goal will allow us to build characters and environments, start laying out cameras, and continue animation testing.

Challenges
It takes a lot to make an animated film. Our team has put a lot of effort into making the Book of Mojo look amazing, and there's a lot of work to do. Animation, music, recording voice talent, rendering, this is what your contributions will be going towards.

Recently, we ran a crowdfunding campaign for the Book of Mojo and we learned a lot. We didn't reach our goal, but we gained many new friends, colleagues, and fans along the way. We know that there's an audience that very excited about this story and wants to see it get made. We also learned how to really focus our goals and efforts in order to keep our momentum going! We've presented a world and characters that we believe will entertain you and capture your hearts.
