We are the Morrisville Community Farmers' Market.  A grassroots organization in Morrisville, PA who are working together with local farmers and food purveyors.

Our mission is to provide a venue where local farmers, producers, crafters and artisans come together to provide a variety of fresh produce and related products directly to the consumer. The market encourages direct communication between consumers and purveyors, fosters social gathering and community building, and promotes nutritious food choices.

In the U.S., our food travels an average of 1,300 miles to get to our tables. This long-distance transport burns large amounts of fossil fuels, pollutes our air and our waters, and clogs our highways, waterways, airways and even our city streets with large food distribution transport vehicles. Local food systems offer an energy-efficient, sustainable, and less polluting alternative.

Farmers' markets build community ties and encourage civic life, offering residents the opportunity of buying food directly from the farmers, feeling connected to the land where their food is grown, and exercising consumer choice about how their food is grown.

With our inaugural market season beginning on Sunday, September 21st, we are moving full steam ahead, but we have some financial challenges we need to overcome in order to be successful.

What We Need & What You Get

The $1,900 goal will go to the following:

  • Insurance - $333
  • Banner for National Night Out, and then hung at Morrisville High School - $96
  • Tent, table, & chairs for at the market - $209
  • Domain registration for our website - $20
  • Advertising - lawn signs, flyers, posters - $150
  • Fees for establishing the Morrisville Community Farmers' Market as a 501(c)3 - $1,063 - Right now we get to use the HS for free because we promised that we would be a non-profit before the start of the 2015 market season.  Reaching this milestone guarantees the future of the market.

Any money over and above our goal will go towards additional advertising for the fall market season, as well as give us a cushion for any unbudgeted expenses.  All funds remaining at the end of 2014, will go into a fund for the following market season's operating expenses.

As a thank you for your support, we are offering many perks as seen on the right side.  Our logo products will connect you with our work and to our community.  Plus, you will sleep better at night knowing that you are making a positive contribution to our community :)

Impact of Your Donations

Having a successful farmers' market in Morrisville will provide:

  • a livelihood for several local farmers & purveyors
  • income opportunities for neighborhood businesses
  • affordable, healthy produce and ready made food products for local residents
  • a destination within our community for you, your family, children, and friends to gather!
Those of you who have attended other community farmers' markets in our region already know that they do all of this, and more.  Its time to bring it to Morrisville.  To our neighborhood.  To our community.
