We need your support:

Please help us in sponsoring the charity projects of Moyo4children for the children's home in Kathonzweni (southern Kenya).
Moyo is Swahili for "heart" - but we will need more than our hearts to change the lives of these children.
All donations - one-time or regular - are more than welcome!

59 children - orphans mostly, or left behind by their parents - live in the children's home. Agata Tylkowska, who initiated the project will be going to Kenya on July 29, for 5 months.

These are the goals we want and need to achieve:

Our goals

-  fulfil the basic human needs of these children

-  equip the home with proper furniture (beds, cupboards, mattresses, tables, desks, chairs etc.)

- buy clothing and shoes - in this area the disease called Tungoza is very easily caught if you walk around barefoot. Sand fleas transfer the  disease, which lets whole body parts (mostly the feet) rot away, leading to immense pain and eventually death.

-  buy medication and essential First-Aid-kits.

-  get mosquito nets for every bed - in Africa these should be part of the basic equipment everywhere. Mosquitos transfer diseases like dengue fever, malaria and yellow fever.

-  buy enough cleaning material - we need to teach the children and employees how to keep the environment hygienic and clean, so that parasites and infections will decrease.

-  let the youngsters attend pre-school - that's 10€ per month and child, plus school uniform and  books. In pre-school they start learning English, which is essential as the language of instruction in the following years.

-  let the older children go to school, so that they have the chance to go on to university later on.

-  diversify their diet - now they are getting two meals a day, mostly rice, cabbage, beans, sometimes eggs, very rarely meat.

-  get instruction material and visual aids for our volunteers to teach them with, outside of school.

-  install bathrooms and toilets and definitely a water pump (the picture below shows the "sanitary facilities" as they are right now. A concrete floor.)

We want these children to have real chances in life, to live in dignity and happiness. Let us support these children and their village in improving their lives by their own efforts.

With your help, we can achieve that.

It's an investment in the future of a whole village!

Example shopping list:

- 40 mattresses - 40x 22€ = 880
- exercise  books - 50x 8 = 400
- blankets, bedsheets, bedcovers - 40x 15 (one set) = 600

- monthly costs per child vary between 35€ (pre-school) and 80€ (school)
=  for our 59 children we need more than 2500€ per month!

-  we need also visual aids for additional schooling, writing material, books and other instructional aids - at the beginning about 250

- food (for example):

maize 3,5€ per kg; beans 1€ per kg; rice 0,75€ per kg; green grams 1€ per kg; sugar 1,20€ per kg

with kindest regards

Tomasz Cybulla, Agata Tylkowska  & Jana Mischke
