Our Story
Derrick is a man with a facial deformity. Regardless of how he feels, it appears that he is always smiling. Derrick needs to attend a friends funeral and after feeling like an outcast, Derrick looks for way he can begin to fit in. Derrick's day in a life story is a comedy about finding a place and the misperception people may have from our actions.
The Impact
Our goal is to make people laugh! We've all had situations where we may have smiled or laughed inappropriately. Mr. Smiley Face is the embodiment of that embarrassment. Though this relation, we will all get a good laugh and smile.
What We Need & What You Get
The $7000 will go roughly to the following departments of production:
Production Design ($3000):
This is everything in the look of our film. Here's a list of what the Production Design Budget goes to.
- Wardrobe for the characters.
- Hiring our make up artist.
-
Prosthetics for Mr. Smiley Face to always be smiling.
Equipment ($2000):
We are lucky to have access to tons of equipment already from The Academy of Art but this isn't enough to complete our equipment needs. $2000 goes to rental of additional equipment and technical needs.
Permits ($1000):
Our script has about 7 locations. All which need to be permitted and locked down. Location include areas such as mall areas, a bar, and other spaces.
Transportation ($500):
This money is used to get the cast and crew around. We'll need to rent a truck to load everything up from space to space.
Food and Catering ($1000):
Keeping our cast and crew fed will keep them trucking through the long shoot days! We simply want to provide food for the shoot dates to our cast and crew.
Film Maker's Buffer ($500):
There are always unexpected costs. This buffer will make sure that anything unforeseen would simply shut us down.
