New Home for the Cisneros Family
THE PROJECT
We are seeking your help to raise funds for construction of a new small home for the Cisneros Family, who live in a small rural and undeveloped community of San Cayetano, Nicaragua, Central America. The family members include single mother, Eliza, and children, 5-year old Fernanda, 11-year old Isaac, and 15-year old Javier.
Andrew Weekly and SmithWeekly Consultants Inc. (US) is the manager of the project, passing through 100% of the net funds received directly to all costs associated with construction of the small new home. SmithWeekly's management costs are donated and are completely free. All funds will go direct to materials, labor, and final finishes. All receipts of expenses will be retained for donors' records and are available upon request.
THE SITUATION
The Cisneros Family currently lives in what can be described as a 32-plus year old "shack" comprised of rusted metal sheeting, broken down concrete/stone blocks, failing rotten wood structural members, exposed hanging electrical lines, and broken concrete/dirt flooring. The Family's cooking area is in the exterior of the house with an outhouse for a bathroom/shower. No water piping distribution is present. Water is generally supplied in plastic barrels, either by oxen cart or at times, by truck.
THE PLAN
The new small home will be 20-foot by 15-foot, 300 square foot, 2 bedroom, 1 bath, with a kitchen/living area, and will consist of the following work:
- Demolition and salvage of existing old home materials.
- Prepare concrete foundation with utilities for future water/sewer connections.
- Construct structural block building with interior partition walls to separate the small rooms and bath.
- Construct a composite plastic sheet roof with steel members.
- Construct 3 windows and 2 doors.
- Electrical work and lighting fixtures.
- Construct concrete/foam cabinets.
- Complete finishes with interior and exterior paints.
- Installation of 1 small refrigerator.
SCHEDULE
We want to complete funding within 3 months, complete planning in the 4th month, proceed to construction by September/October 2017, and complete the project by the end of January 2018.
