THE STORY
Hey friends, this Summer I'm planning on going on a documentary trip to New Zealand from April 24th-June 2nd with my extremely talented classmates and fellow documentarians/photojournalists at Brooks Institute. We're all spreading across the country to do individual stories, and I have decided to do mine on a story that is extremely important to me.
The power of humor is something that has gotten me through some of the darkest times of my life. It's a proven fact that humor and happiness can protect your heart, boost your immune system and lower your stress levels. With this personal experience in mind, I decided to do a project on someone that was a part of the Clown Doctors of New Zealand, an organization that helps improves lives of those in need through entertainment.
My main focus with this film is to help people understand the depth, hard work, artistry and craftsmanship that goes into clowning and circus work, as well as inspire them to embrace the life changing aspects of humor into their lives. I want my audience to find happiness by not only making themselves laugh, but through also reaching out to others in need by performing acts of kindness and helping them reach moments of bliss. This is a story about finding strength and becoming triumphant after an achingly heartbreaking ordeal, and I think that this is important because it's something that can create an atmosphere of hope for those enduring through loss.
WHY DO I NEED THIS MONEY AND HOW CAN YOU HELP?
I really want to produce a beautiful film that can help the people of Christchurch and people around the world who are struggling with their own personal battles. With your donations, this dream of mine can become true. Whether it's five dollars or fifty cents, any money is absolutely appreciated to the ends of the earth. This money will help me with everything from bringing this amazing story to life to being on my own in New Zealand. The cost of travel and housing combined will cost about $3,000 itself, and the cost of food, equipment and other minor things combined will come out to about $2,000.
