What is One for Everyone?

  • One for Everyone is an off shoot of a group of parents who call themselves Club Wonder in Valparaiso, IN. Club Wonder supports families who have a child with a disability. Because our goal in inclusion, we want children with disabilities to be included in playground play.
  •  We want to buy more special needs playground equipment because all children like to play and not all children are able to use existing playgrounds.
  • The idea behind One for Everyone is to have ONE playground where EVERY child can play, and then ONE special needs apparatus in EVERY playground. Sounds good, right? Can't you picture a day when this is a reality? I can!
  • We promised our friend and Club Wonder parent Bridget that we would raise money for this playground and make a place where she could take her daughter to play. It's an unspeakable tragedy, but Bridget passed away in February 2013 before she could see the fruits of our labor, but we will get this done!
  • Having an all-inclusive playground in our area will be a life changer and a paradigm shift for many people. It will bring more diverse people together and build and foster empathy and compassion for all individuals. Plus, it will be beautiful and be used by all kinds of children, those with and without disabilities.

Why do we need you?

  • Special needs playgrounds cost about $500,000. For our first project, we are working with the Valparaiso Park District and they are also raising money. However, the more money we raise, the more grants we can give so that EVERY playground has at least ONE apparatus that ALL children can use. That is our larger goal.
  • We have some perks-a download of the song that we recorded for this project, a car magnet and t-shirt with our logo, greeting cards with art made by Club Wonder kids during our social group...a chance to have a song written just for you! and your chance to have your name on a piece of playground equipment that you help buy (or buy outright).
  • We win no matter how much money we raise, because we will give grants to purchase or help purchase special needs playground equipment. More money = more playground equipment for more playgrounds. We'd like to spread it around! I don't know of too many non-profits who have so much money they don't know what to do with it, but if that happens to us, we will give grants to communities further and further away...all money will go toward special needs playground equipment in our local communities...

You will help build a playground!

Your contribution will add to the growing compassion our society has for children with special needs. You will also be helping parents who struggle to find ways to include their children with special needs in activities enjoyed by typically developing children.

  • Children with disabilities are cherished like never before. However, funding to help them is often lacking. With your help, you can help build a safe place for them to play--a place where all children can play and have a good time. When we cherish people for their uniqueness, we feel good.
  • This program is a part of Opportunity Enterprises, a 501c3 non-profit that works on behalf of people with special needs. OE has a proven track record of supporting people in our community with special needs. http://www.oppent.org. Their list of accomplishments is just so huge-please check out their website.
  • The people working on this project are giving their time and energy to do something to make the world a better place.

We have a song on youtube!
