Short Summary
My kids, Ben (10) and Mika (8) came up with this idea. It is so simple, only a child can come up with it!
There are an estimated 50 Million kids between the ages of 6-17 in the United States, 20 Million in the European Union and many more millions in other countries around the world. What if once a year every kid in the developed world donated just one Dollar? Together, kids can raise a lot of money and have the power to change the world!
What if these kids can then go online, read about children related causes, and vote on where they want their money to go to? These kids will not only be able to help other children around the world, but will also become active participants and informed philanthropists from a very young age.
We want to build a website that will allow children all over the world to read and learn about several children related causes. Kids will see pictures, videos, and read about these causes. They can then vote on where they want their money to go to, and check back to see their "money at work."
This is about doing good, and collecting substantial funds toward children related causes, but its also about raising the next generation of philanthropists. With this idea, kids will understand that every dollar counts, and that together they can truly make a difference!

What We Need
Join us! Help us make this dream a reality! The $38,000 we need will go towards creating a state of the art website which will include a way for kids to learn about the different charities/ causes and vote on where they want their money to go to. The site will also include kids friendly "investor reports" for their different charities, and multimedia interactive interface, which will help them understand the complexities and challenges that these charities face in a way that kids can relate to and understand.
Additionally, we will use some of the money raised to set up a non profit organization, and apply for legal a non profit status.
FAQs
Q: I love this idea, and you seem very passionate about this, but do you have what it takes to make it happen?A: Great question! And yes...yes, I do! For almost twenty years, I have been doing marketing and PR for many clients in different industries. I was responsible for developing many creative campaigns both online and offline, and I can't wait to sink my teeth into this campaign! I believe in this idea so much, I know that promoting it will almost be easy!
Additionally, for almost two years, I served as the director of marketing for the Jewish Federation of Northern NJ, so I got to experience the nonprofit world first hand, and understand some of the challenges of marketing a nonprofit. I am confident I can take this experience and the lessons I learned and use them to help take this from the conceptual stage to implementation and beyond.
Q: Do you think it is smart to let young kids make such important decisions?A: We truly believe that kids have the passion to do good, and the capacity to understand complex concepts and situations, if we explain it at their level. With that said, our site will provide kids and their parents a wonderful opportunity to sit down together, go through the materials on the website, and discuss the options together. Parents will undoubtedly play a vital roll in helping and guiding their children.
Q: What will you do if you don't raise all the money?A: We are extremely excited about this idea, and very determined to make it happen! If we are unsuccessful in raising the full amount, we will be sad, but it will not prevent us from doing what we set out to do! We will of course need to start smaller. We may need to start out with a more modest website which will not have all the bells and whistles we envision, and upgrade it as we go along.
Q: What will you do if you raise more then what you asked for? A: We will be dancing in the streets! Seriously, we will be so happy. Raising more money will allow us to accelerate the worldwide roll out of this campaign, and fast track a few of our long term plans. For example, one of the items on our wish list is to contract an educator who can help us tailor a complementary educational platform which we can give, free of charge, to partner schools, PTOs and other organizations, so we can drive the educational aspect of the site home.
Q: Why should I get involved?A: Comon! You know you want to! Scratch that do-gooder itch, and be a part of something that can truly change the way our kids learn about philanthropy and engage in it. Oh, and of course, while raising a lot of money for worthy causes in the process!
