In a historic turn in Australian politics, Online Direct Democracy (ODD) Party, Australia’s first online political party, a not for profit, contests the 2016 Federal Election with a contingent of candidates and an online voting platform!
Picketing, marching, signing petitions, will be replaced with a tap on our phones with a Yes, No or Abstain vote on Every Bill, using an exciting Internet Platform called POLLYWEB!
Pollyweb, the ODD voting platform will revolutionise the way we view politics, making politics easily accessible, transparent and engaging, even fun, whilst ensuring all the facts are presented to voters without prejudice, so that voting is informed. ODD senators & MP’s have committed in writing to vote as the majority direct on Every Bill.
'Get rid of the ballot boxes and pencils and save on the $100m it costs to run each federal election!' says Party Leader Francois Crespel.
With weeks to go until the election, the party is on a crowdfunding mission, without any major backing other than the people it vows to represent.
Our party will make a difference to the Australian political system but we need your help. At the moment we are a dedicated group of volunteers who work on building the capacity of the party using whatever spare time we have and the money from our own back pockets. We truly are a party of the people.
To achieve our goal of giving people a say in parliament, we first need to get elected and our crowdfunding campaign intends to help achieve this by;
- getting our name on the street
- increasing our public profile
-
attracting candidates
- assisting our candidates in meeting the costs associated with running as a candidate
We have estimated that it will cost at least $2,000 per candidate (House of Representatives) to run for the 2016 election. With our current number of candidates at 10 and increasing weekly, we have set a modest target of $30,000 which will go towards Candidate AEC fees, how to vote cards and various other essential campaigning materials.
We need as many people as possible talking about the potential of what we are doing. We need likes on Facebook, we need people wearing our shirts, we need our stickers stuck on the back of peoples cars (please only stick them on your car :) ). We need as many advocates, volunteers and candidates as possible registering on our website to help us bring life back to Australian democracy.
If the major political parties are funded by the interest groups that they serve, it really does make sense that Online Direct Democracy should seek its funding from the people that it serves. Everyday Australians. Hence, crowdfunding.
If you can't contribute $$$ to the movement, that's okay, we know that times are tough and we appreciate any help you can give us. Anyone can help by:
-
partaking in this crowdfunding campaign
-
donating to the party directly
-
becoming a registered member of the party
-
volunteering for us
-
becoming a candidate
-
'liking' and sharing our Facebook page and posts
-
letting everyone know about our Crowdfunding campaigns
Above all, what Australia really needs is for people to sit up and get involved in the running of their country. For too long we have trusted that the Government serves us in our best interests, we have been mislead. Now it is time to put our complacency aside and get back in the game. We can help you do that. Get on board and we'll be standing with you at the finish line.
Your vote, your voice, your country, your choice.
Online Direct Democracy - Empowering the people.
