My name is Harriet . I'm 47 years old and have a wonderful husband, and 4 equally wonderful children.
In 2008 I came to Canada from the Philippines, to take a position as a live-in nanny.
When I left, I told my youngest daughter, then 6, that I was going abroad to work to earn money for their milk. I returned home 2 years later and my daughter said she wanted me to stay and wouldn't drink milk anymore.
I did return to Canada though because we did need the money for their schooling and living expenses, if they were to have a good chance at a better life. I had also realized that Canada was the land of opportunity and future for my children. My employers were good , very kind and encouraging people. I knew, if possible, this was where I wanted to bring my family.
North America is so welcoming to those willing to put forth the effort and be a part of it all.
For 6 years I have worked very hard taking any and all jobs I can (nanny; PSW; cleaning houses). I work long hours, and I'm happy doing it because I know it will all be worth it when we are together. ( My husband too works hard to support our family, but teacher pay is low in the Philippines.)
The Immigration papers are almost completed, just the Medical and Visa are left.
Starting a new life here has been challenging and although I live very frugally, sending money home to them while trying to save for their travel expenses and documents to join me, has left me short.
Please help me bring my family to Canada. Though we Skype, it's been 3 years since I've held my children.... or been held by my husband.
